^^ Reading your post prompted me to look at the Fins regular season schedule for the first time & surprise, the Fins and the rest of the East do play the AFC South this year; but I'm not sweating it yet. Truth be told, I'm not really concerned about football, right now--I just have a grudge against Atlanta for that meltdown in the SB against the Pats.

As for rooting for Tampa, never. We play them in their stadium Week 5...

I might actually cheer for Miami in that game.  Atlanta pissed me off and so did Seattle with that BS call to throw on first down.  Gave the game away.  Well Buffalo and Miami are both better than NE now.  Atlanta was stupid to let Julio go

Not that I have a vested interest, but have there been any updates about Washington & their supposed search for a team nickname? I guess the Cleveland baseball story got me interested...

Other than it won't be the Warriors or any Native American imagery... nothing.

I'm hoping it won't be the Guardians...

That would be fine.  Someone suggested the Federals, but that might bring to mind the ill-fated USFL (was that the league? I can't actually remember the letters involved). It was thought that it would go with the Capitals and Nationals.  (The Wiz being outliers).

I like the Little Napoleons, since Little Danny can't actually name them after himself, that would do for me :D

I think they should keep what they’ve got. Washington Football Team sounds so old school. Perfect for a historic franchise.

Wonder who the Rams will pick up to help their injured running game??

^^ I'm not an expert on contracts, but 6 years & he's only 25 seems like a sound investment--I'm sure Rick thinks so. If they gave him a Pujols or Miguel Cabrera type contract, I might have blinked, but he will only be 31 at the end of it--still should have plenty of gas in the tank....

We shall see. Had a great year, last year, that’s for sure.

The Bills are 2 point favorites in pre season opener in Detroit.  Ill tell you why I would consider betting a pre season game. Because Trubinsky is likely to play much of the game vs a team he knows well and will be out to impress.  Then the kid from Georgia will play.  Of course Allen will likely play one series with the entire Western NY holding their breath blind folded.  Marv Levy hated pre season.

The Bills are in the Lions den tonight.  I expect Josh Allen to take one series and that is it.   Trubinsky likely is anxious to play this game. May get a look at Fromme also.  Jerod Geoff, who I like, will play his first game for the Lions. No doubt very limited action.  I really wish him well there

Mrs jabe and I returned today from a casino excursion to Mississippi.
Great comps and all the expected southern charm.
Usual slot play for my wife, roulette and baccarat for me.

We both took the Patriots against the line  vs Philly.
That was sweet, Cam and Mac. ++
Tonight, parley vs the line, I have the Foreskins and the Chiefies.

The over/under on Detroit Lions wins this year is 5.5.  I'd take that under bet in a heartbeat.  I'd make another one , a lottery longshot.  The Lions are + 2500 to go 0-17.  I'd take that bet too.  Remember, the losing floor has now been expanded with a 17 game schedule.  We have new depths to explore, and must again separate ourselves from the pack.  I predict Goff will be destroyed by game 5, and David Blough will 'lead' us to losing knee-gnawing infamy.

The Lions and The Texans are the only teams that offer any 0-17 odds.

I think they might surprise.  Their defense showed some life last year and they pulled a couple upsets.  Rogers has really caused some trouble in GB.  I’ll take the over on Lions and Geoff

I don't know if even the Detroit Lions deserve 0-17 (does anyone?)....

NO.  And Geoff has a  big chip on his shoulder and the Lions defense actually had their moments last year.  Some nice upsets they pulled.  At Arizona was one. Early before the Cardinals fell apart after the Hail Mary trash game vs us.

I tell you Paul, I have no idea in the world why Miami are 3 point dogs to this NE team with a rookie QB?  I took Miami at my sportsbook on  parlay.   I like Miami to win this game. And I am picking them for 2nd place and possible Wild card.  I have the Chargers to get a WC as I bet a future on it.  I bet some division winner parlays.  Like the Bills with Tampa and the Rams.  I know there is a ton of love for the 49ers.  Just not from me.  Ill take Matt Stafford and the Rams over Jimmy G and the 49ers who have no depth at all.  One major injury and they are toast.

I like the Browns to win the division over the  Ravens.  Want to check me into an asylum?  I bet a $2 parlay, (cant believe they took it), $2 to win $564.   3 teamer to win divisions.  Buffalo, LA Chargers and Detroit Lions.  Yes.  Why not.  They have to win someday and the Rogers situation is bad.

I also took Indy . I am not a believer in Wentz at all.  But if he sputters I believe Frank Reich will pull him fast. I think he is on a short leash and Reich could game manage that team easily.  Tennessee has no defense.

I have my money on the Washington Redskins to win the East.   I have Bills and Rams going to the Super Bowl.  And flat bets on each to win their conferences.  If Matt Stafford stays healthy, look out

Damn. I had no idea until just now that the season started tonight. Cowboys vs. Bucs? Something about a Cowboy offensive lineman being out with covid? I did not think Dak would even be ready to play this soon after his injury. Sorry guys…just don't feel like doing the pool any more. Sports is so far off my radar these days. It used to be I always knew when opening day for the season was in all sports. Not anymore.
