There's a program that splits mono recordings into the individual instruments. Once that's done, it's just a matter of mixing those instruments back together to make stereo versions of the songs and then remastering them. The remastering part is what takes the majority of the time. It's more art than science, so I spend a lot of time trying things to figure out what sounds best. It's different for each show because the soundboards all sound different to begin with. Because of that, there's no set formula, although there are some general steps I take for each show to get me headed in the right direction.
