First date of the tour kicks off tonight in Slovenia, will be interesting to see what's played!

I received a download of the new single, As I Roved Out as I'd bought tickets to the upcoming UK tour, far rockier than I was expecting (heavier than the stuff with Alison and the Band of Joy) and much more similar to the Strange Sensation stuff. Liked it a lot and looking forward to the album!

Sounds amazing! Wasn't expecting The Rain Song and indeed any LZ stuff given Saving Grace has been a Zeppelin free zone thus far. Super excited about the UK tour. This is the most sonically exciting Americana project Robert's done I feel as there's an experimental feel to the arrangements. Very NQ Unledded in vibe. Bring on the album!

In typical Robert Plant fashion, he managed to make his announcement of the end of Saving Grace sound slightly ambiguous.  He twice seemed to say very clearly that it was their last ever show, but then immediately said that they would like to play the same venue again someday.  But Suzi had to pause her band introductions because she said she was too emotional to speak - which seems like more of a 'last show ever' thing than a 'last show of the tour' thing.

Robert Plant is clearly enjoying himself. He may be a rock god, but he’s also a music fan with impressively eclectic taste. Twenty-four years ago he was on this same stage at the Cambridge folk festival with Priory of Brion, reviving 1960s favourites by Them and Love. He has worked with four bands and Alison Krauss since then; tonight he “presents” his new-ish five-piece, Saving Grace, who started in low-key fashion five years ago supporting Fairport Convention, but here give a masterclass in how to revive and rework country, folk, rock and blues.

Dressed in black, Plant trades vocals with Suzi Dian while adding occasional harmonica and bass guitar. First comes the brooding and bluesy Win My Train Fare Home, which he originally recorded at the Festival in the Desert with English guitarist Justin Adams. Next up is a charming rendition of traditional The Cuckoo, backed by banjo, and then a pounding revival of Led Zeppelin’s Friends, with Dian adding accordion. Later come tributes to Los Lobos and Bert Jansch, and a rousing a cappella finale of the traditional Incredible String Band favourite Bid You Goodnight. It’s a thrilling, compelling performance.

ROBERT Plant and his band Saving Grace, along with a host of other musicians, will be celebrating Bewdley as part of a special event this week.

‘Celebration Daze’ will take place over two evenings at St Anne's Church on Load Street, raising money for local charities.

The event is also a means of congratulating two mainstays of the town, The Bewdley Civic Society, which is celebrating its 80-year anniversary, and Bewdley Tennis Club, which has reached its 100th birthday.

On Friday (September 20), comedian and classical pianist Alistair McGowan will be performing at the church. Singer Deborah Rose and poet Liz Berry will also be performing, accompanied by fiddle player Ruth Angell, on the evening.

On Saturday (September 21), Robert Plant and Saving Grace will be performing to a sell-out audience, with the three-piece band Burr Island, also on the bill for the evening.

Tickets costing £25 are still available for the Friday showcase and can be booked via Ticket Source, however, the tickets for the Saturday night show are now completely sold out.

The plans for the 'Celebration Daze' project were first discussed in a local pub by Robert Plant and the members of Saving Grace.

They said as they spend so much time in and around the community, they wanted to contribute somehow to its "many qualities and facilities available to local people."
