Apparently if someone is a convicted felon, they cannot enter the US military, yet they can become Commander-in-chief?

Contradiction reigns supreme.

I've also noticed some have posted that Joe Biden is a liar, so what does that make Trump after he and his lawyer made false business expense claims in lieu of "hush money" payments to a prostitute?

Thankfully being an observer and not required to participate in the election. Personally, if I were I wouldn't vote for either of them.

Got to love American justice and politics.

Yeah, I'm in the middle of that process myself. It's going to take me a while as I amassed over one hundred pages. Crikey!

Actually didn't take too long for 80 pages. It was nice to see the red bar disappear and the 'choose file' reappear.

Each to their own. I thought she was pretty good. Fit the vibe of the whole thing.

New Labor Gov. voted in in the old country. Good luck Chilli and co. I hope this is not a case of meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Given the old boss included the likes of Boris the clown, I assume it's somewhat welcome.

Yes. Better the Devil you know??? Yes a landslide but Labour didn't get my vote. We voted for our favourite colour and choice of relaxation. Green . See what happens but nice to give the Tory wankers a good stuffing

last time around the contestants were magic grandpa ( corbyn for those living beyond shores of the uk ) and boris johnson . never in the history of democracy / voting have two more useless twats been presented to the public ( and I include biden v trump 1 & 2 ) . this time we had sunak and starmer ....... who knows what either of them stand for . voter turn out is low . get this in previous election corbyn got 30% of the vote . johnson was bit higher but johnson ended up with an 80 seat majority . this latest election starmer polled approx 1% more of the public vote than corbyn but starmer gets a whopping 250 seat majority ...... go figure . almost done . starmer notwithstanding achieving the largest majority ever in the uk actually only polled ( it was a low turnout ) approximately 20% of those eligible to vote . in other words the public couldnt be bothered . but one piece of good news . I live in scotland . the vile scottish nationalist party were trounced . collapsed from 47 seats to 9 . there you have it readers ... politics , meaningful democratic politics , imho , is largely a thing of the past .

I thought voting was compulsory in the old country. Fuck me, is it only compulsory here?

I've always thought that's an incredibly good thing. You can still go to the booth and write "fuck off cunts" for all anyone cares, but you go, and decide at the booth. Everyone. No exceptions.

There is a lot to be said about how that basic rule keeps the electorate somewhat centred, and not "special interests" winning when there is an otherwise completely apathetic electorate - which can be really dangerous.

I'm glad it's compulsory, and I'm glad it's based on the English parliamentary system.

Not compulsory here man. The amount of Illegal people here it would be impossible to do. You have to have photographic evidence and say your address and that's it. Also, as many people here can't even speak let alone read English, a cross is sufficient to vote. Large Towns and Cities, especially in areas where English is a second Language (mainly in the North) certain South Asian communities just send anyone, as a beard and a Hijab are commonplace and no one would be any the wiser. Mrs CP reckons that when she drives into Manchester, she avoids certain boroughs as most Asians either can't drive or have never passed their driving test or used a dodgy examiner who happens to frequent the same Mosque or Temple or is related to them.

Fuck me. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the luck of our geography is one of the fundamental reasons we avoid so much shit. Maybe you guys should have left your prisoners there Chilli, and the rest of you relocated here. 🤣

This Country, whilst I don't mind people who come here to work hard and contribute, is being overrun with Illegals. There are certain no-go areas where gang culture is rife and lawless. Of course we have British gangs but generally it's " non white", for want of a better phrase, that have completely dominated parts of this Country.

I live in a very rural traditional area. It's safe, friendly and wonderful. However, I feel very unsafe when I go into Manchester. English is the main second Language. Large groups of (mainly) men intimidate you. All foreign. Sometimes you feel unwelcome and don't get me started on London.

I've said this before. One of our regrets is that we didn't stay in Australia when we had the chance, although it would have been hard to get residency. I love the Australians. Your outlook on life, your love of sport and fair dinkum. Some of my favourite films are from down under and I have to say we never met an unfriendly Aussie when we were there. Oh and at least you get a summer.
