Reggie29 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 So, America and Britain were the only countries to defeat the Germans and Japanese and had their homeland attacked and are the only total bad arses? Yeah, right! It's time the truth be told. Never retreat and never surrender. Btw, my two uncles served in WWII, one a signalman (survived), on the Kokoda Track, New Guinea and the other K.I.A. serving with the US Small Ships in the Pacific. Quote

When I was a cadet in high school, we used full timber stock and barrel Lee Enfield .303's when we went on camps etc. We used a smaller .22 calibre replica on our rifle range at the back of our sports fields after school. Happy Days! My school was divided into separate boys and girls which was a bummer however the quartermaster store and armoury was located in the girl's area and cadets were the only boys allowed to go there. This a good movie too about the last mounted infantry (not cavalry), charge. Edited October 8 by Reggie29 Quote

The grim part was when they showed color film at a real combat aid station. Quote

The first photo was taken at Singleton Army Base in New South Wales on the Bren Gun range. That's me in the centre with my head up looking at the target 1000 yards away after emptying a magazine. The second photo was taken in 1967 in the backyard of one of my mate's place, I'm the shortarse on the end. Quote

My two mates and I were due to be called up for national service (draft), in December 1972 however, we had an election just a couple of months prior and the winner who had the majority in the Senate abolished conscription immediately, so we didn't get to go to Vietnam. I even had the lingo down pat too although I've long since forgotten it. Btw, most schools that had cadet corps also had rifle ranges. Incidentally, the ammunition used for the Bren and Lee Enfield were both .303, so not having to use different shells was a bonus. This is a photo of me and Mark (who is in the previous photo), on one of our bivouacs, again in Singleton. Quote

On the back of the pic he wrote: 'Here I am with the best friend you can have over here. I have had it since Hawaii.' He was in the 25th Infantry Division-Tropic Lightning. I also had two nephews who went over in the army. They also made it back. I was lucky and was classified 4-F (rejected). I wasn't complaining. Glad you lucked out too and didn't have to go. It was a nasty war. My brother on the right with his buds. Quote

Josemanno Posted October 16 Posted October 16 (edited) Here's a fine, loyal to the country, most honorable General that during his tenure was totally apolitical. He HAD to obey his commander in chief as that was an absolute directive with a man of such integrity and well versed in the Military code of conduct... This man knows so much more than anyone here could know a man that is trumped up to be a solid leader amongst his sychophants. Go against a man like this General and you're crazy. Of course there'll be those same sychophants that denounce this, compare to other people etc...but JUST the gist of this article and quotes should show truth where truth is denied because of such a devotion to ONE man, those of such belief are blind beyond help. US Army General Mark Milley I know Mark Milley. We should take his Trump warning seriously. The last thing in the world the former Joint Chiefs chair wants to be is political. For him to take this step shows the gravity of the situation. Oct. 15, 2024, 12:56 PM CDT By Max Rose This is an adapted excerpt from the Oct. 14 episode of "The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle." As we inch closer to the election, former Donald Trump appointees are sounding the alarm over the prospect of the Republican nominee’s return to the White House. According to a forthcoming book from veteran journalist Bob Woodward, retired U.S. Army Gen. Mark Milley called Trump “fascist to the core” and “the most dangerous person to this country.” These comments from Milley, Trump’s former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, are absolutely stunning, and as someone who knows him personally, I can tell you that the last thing in the world this man wants to be is political. Milley has dedicated his entire life to military service and the apolitical pursuit of serving the commander in chief — irrespective of his or her political affiliation. For him to take this step, in perhaps the most public manner imaginable, shows the gravity of the threat that Trump poses. As the senior military adviser to the president, Milley served alongside Trump day in and day out. This man saw the former president up close and personal and after that experience, he has said resoundingly that Trump should go nowhere near the Oval Office again. We should take his message incredibly seriously. Milley’s warning came to light just days before Trump once again threatened to use his presidential power to go after political enemies. In an interview that aired Sunday on Fox News, Trump said he would deploy the military on American soil to handle what he called “the enemy from within” on Election Day. Should Trump win a second term, what we would be relying on to prevent the former president from taking these extraordinary steps is not just the rule of law but also the character of our men and women in uniform. These brave men and women swear an oath, not to an individual but to a document and a set of principles: the Constitution. I’ve taken this oath multiple times and sworn to protect this nation against enemies, both foreign as well as domestic. What Trump and his associates are seeking to do is not just weaponize the military but replace these brave men and women of character with loyalists and yes-men. That possibility is why Milley called Trump “the most dangerous person to this country.” That is the gravity of this election and that is what’s on the line in November.
