Medhb
According to Pattie Boyd's autobiography, Plumpton Place was to have become George Harrison's house at first in 1969. As soon as Harrisons saw this house, they put it an offer. But later female owner of this house turned it down. Pattie writes that ''She said she didn't want rock'n'roll musicians buying her lovely house and sold it to the local doctor instead. He realized what a treasure he had bought and sold it to Michael Caine, who sold it on to Jimmy Page, the heavy-metal guitarist who founded Led Zeppelin.'' I heard that someone was dead in Plumpton Place too around 1979. A young male Zeppelin fan 19years old died during a party on the ground. I heard that Jimmy was searching for a new house because of this. Next year he found a new house and moved into it with his then family. When my old acquaintance visited the Old Mill House in around 1982 ,she encountered the scene to which Scarlet came home from the school. My friend saw Scarlet has gotten off the car of the driver exclusive duty. She said that she felt having peeped at normal very rich life Oh! That's great info, thanks for sharing Alice!! SteveAJones
I personally posted these (took the time to post these, sorry) ones years ago on the old forum- from a real estate brochure I've had since 1981, and the third one you posted was then added by someone else (he didn't credit his archives so I don't immediately recall who it was). I'm pretty sure they were posted on this new forum too in a discussion about Jimmy's homes. So I thought it odd to start a new thread for them, that's all. Its okay to discuss that isn't it? I welcome such discussion. First, I'd like to mention I started this thread on Jimmy's Birthday (seven months ago). Yesterday I saw there was an unanswered question concerning if it had become a b&b and replied to that. All of my Plumpton Place photos come from the original negatives, and they were taken by Pennie Smith on a photo assignment for New Musical Express in Autumn 1974. Jimmy did put this property on the market in 1980 (or '81) so if you are saying the additional photos your posting here are from a real estate brochure it does makes perfect sense. Luiza - many thanks to you as well for sharing additional Plumpton Place photos. There is nothing quite like Plumpton Place in the Autumn; my favorite season at one of my favorite locations in the world.

FireOpal
Phwoah - this is like real estate pornography; what a gorgeous house & grounds. So the older photos, which show a half-timbered (or Tudor-style as we call it in the States) design are from when Jimmy owned the house? And then the more recent photos show the house has been given a brick facing. Side note: hey Luiza! That photo of a baby Gilmour is amazing- never saw that before
Bonzoghost
It's a distant 90 minutes away from London and requires considerable maintenance and upkeep. Moving to Old Mill House near Windsor in 1980 put him in close proximity to the international airports and all the cultural attractions/venues the great city of London offers whilst still retaining his privacy and seclusion. Old Mill isn't exactly secluded? It's at the end of a street full of semi's...

SteveAJones
I heard that someone was dead in Plumpton Place too around 1979. A young male Zeppelin fan 19years old died during a party on the ground. I heard that Jimmy was searching for a new house because of this. Next year he found a new house and moved into it with his then family. Sadly, it is true Philip Churchill Hale, a 23-year-old photographer and designer friend of Jimmy's, was found dead at Plumpton Place on October 15 1979. Jimmy testified at the inquest and foul play was ruled out. He was quite likely already considering a move closer to London before this tragedy. John Bonham was found dead in his new home less than six months after moving in. Tragic, difficult times. By the way, there is no connection between Plumpton Place and actor Michael Caine. It was Old Mill House near Windsor which Jimmy purchased from him. Edited August 12, 2008 by SteveAJones
SteveAJones
Old Mill isn't exactly secluded? It's at the end of a street full of semi's... It has a walled entranceway, several acres and private waterfront acess and as such is relatively secluded.

Knebby
Well, I dunno honey? Do you wish to see some pics? (From the original negatives, courtesy of Bonzoghost archives) *sarcasm* Stalking the residences (or in this case, ex-residences) of ex-Zeppelin members doesn't impress me in the slightest. I also don't need to see pics - whoever owns the negatives. Thanks for the offer. *sarcasm*
Bonzoghost
Have been there myself and have also posted Old Mill House photos here. Putting you on ignore now...permanently. Aw, c'mon Jonesy, don't be like that! You must surely realise how pompous some of your posts are! They are informative however....keep 'em coming.

Knebby
Led Zeppelin don't exist anymore. He doesn't need to "quit" them.

danelectro59
Some here show appreciation for my having taken the time to post them, so I know these photos in and of themselves did come as news to them. I appreciate them as i've never seen them before, so thanks for posting. I like the pond and wonder if Page had them stocked with game fish. Was he a fisherman? I like the pond and wonder if Page had them stocked with game fish. Was he a fisherman? Thank you. Jimmy with a rod and reel? Now there's a mental image. I don't think so. I have a photo of Jimmy's Plumpton Place caretaker (Pat?) taken around the same time (1974). He would know for sure but his whereabouts are unknown at this time. It was 30 years ago, after all. I myself don't recall seeing any fish in either the Plumpton Place or the Horselunges Manor moat.
danelectro59
Jimmy with a rod and reel? Now there's a mental image. Right, what was I thinking I could see Bonzo, or even Plant taking a few casts into a pond, but Jimmy or Jonesy? Although, JP used to wear a hat that resembled the one Henry Fonda wore in "On Golden Pond"
