I recently acquired a 1951 Gibson LG-3 that was rumoured to have been signed by Jimmy Page himself with a pocket knife at a bar in Toronto as per the seller. This may be a long shot... but has anyone out their ever come across this particular guitar or heard of any stories of it? Truly incredible sounding vintage Gibson and would be even cooler if I could figure out some of the history behind this beauty. Cheers.

IMHO, it doesn't have anything to do with Jimmy Page.

I completely agree with Sam.

Whoever did it probably figured using a marker would be an obvious fake. It's still an obvious fake.

i'm undecided about this, i mean who would deface such a gem of a guitar with a fake signature when it would not be out of the question for someone to be able to verify its authenticity.

Thanks for the opinions gents.

If I were to try and get it appraised what would the best way of doing so?

Call me crazy but I think the attached image makes it worth a shot.
