SteveZ98 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Another killer performance from March, 1975. Send me a message for the link: Quote
slp9b Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Thank you for your generosity time and again. Could I please get a link? Quote
Ian Smith Posted November 9 Posted November 9 To any Zep fan here (I imagine most of us...), GRAB this show from Steve. It is f'ing thunder in every way. For Steve to have a SB source like this and then make it sound even better, that's gold. He is doing God's work, yep I said it. And for the JPJ fans out there? He is so high in the mix here and it is life-altering. Quote
luvlz2 Posted November 9 Posted November 9 👍Would absolutely love a link Steve and thanks so much! Quote

And getting Jonsey up in the mix is one of my new goals for these remasters, although it doesn't always work out as well as it did here. Quote
John M Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Absolutely stupendous ! Thanks so much for sharing all your work. Quote
ADK-Zeppy Posted November 9 Posted November 9 A noble endeavor to try and get JPJ up close amd personal in the mix. I'd love a link for this project, amd a big thank you. ADK-Zeppy Quote

ADK-Zeppy Posted November 10 Posted November 10 (edited) Steve, the fidelity is great and you did manage to get JPJ more present in the mixes. One qualm I've had with masters and remasters of sound boards is that many times I wish'd Jones' bass was more noticeable and Page's guitar while he's thrashing away in the middle position using both guitar pickups, seems be too low in the mix compared to the drums. Thanks for a superb effort to get a great balance between instruments and voice. Edited November 10 by ADK-Zeppy spacing Quote

Being able to split the instruments apart lets me remix them so each one is even, although I still need to keep an eye on the levels in each song because the remastering process can emphasize different parts of the spectrum, which can make one instrument more prominent than the others. I'm glad to do it. That's so cool that you got to see the 3/24/75 show. I have not listened to it in awhile. I did some preliminary work to see how much work it would take to remaster it, but I didn't listen to it much past that. I'm planning to eventually do all of the March 1975 soundboards, so I'll definitely circle back to it at some point. Quote

I can still recall the day I got my first 1975 board tape, Dallas. That was so long ago. I got it on cassette, in the mail, traded for some other cassettes. Quote

I think it's hard for people who weren't into live Zep back then to understand how rare that Dallas soundboard was when it first came out. It and the one from 4/27/77 were basically unicorns back then. It's cool that so many soundboards have come out since then. Quote
oemlopa Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Hi Steve, would like to listen to your new work please. Jörg Quote
ADK-Zeppy Posted November 14 Posted November 14 John Paul Jones was to me the better musician in the fearless foursome. This latest download proves it to me even more. His note selection and timing were second to none and added the depth to Zeppelin's overall live sound. That's the reason why Zeppelin had to be experienced “live” and not recorded. Jones and Bonzo added so much low rumbling thunder that allowed Plant and Page to ride as high as they wanted over the top akin to a pair of surfers riding a huge wave. Quote

JPJ is definitely the unsung hero of the band. Two of my goals with these remasters are to make it possible to hear the individual notes he played and to give some sense of the weight they would have had in the arena. When you can clearly hear what he and JHB played, you realize how great they were as individual musicians and how they worked together to form one of the best rhythm sections in rock music history.
