ally
Does anyone remember the late, great Terry Kath. And did anyone see The Chicago Transit Authority in the early day's. ?
ally
Kath was a master of the guitar and had the grungiest sound around at the time. A very underated player, as were the whole band at that moment in time
the Octagon
Terry Kath was one hell of a guitarist, even admired my the likes of Jimi Henrdrix. He could wail, man especially with that wah-wah pedal. He had a pretty cool, soulful voice too.
Joelmon
I saw Chicago with 3 Dog Night in June of 1971. Is that early enough ? Terry Kath was unbelievable..and so was the drummer, Danny Seraphine. I think it was ALL the original guys...to my knowledge..they hadn't started ungoing personal losses.. That band was never the same without him
IGG
I really like his playing, and his voice...he's probably the only reason I like the CTA album and the early Chicago output. When Peter Cetera started being more the focal point, they lost me.
xmas
Never saw them I really got into them but was too young when Kath was still alive.I think CTA is one of the finest albums ever, and Kath's playing...... And on Chicago 2 It Better End Soon. He was also my favorite vocalist in the band. Anyone out there not familiar.try to find some place to hear a sample. Maybe amazon has sound samples on the first 3 chicago albums and of course Live At Carniege Hall.
Levee
I would put him in my top 10 guitar players list. That band was never the same without him I love the solo on "25 or 6 to 4". It 's a shame he passed when he did, I think they could have really been something in different areas of rock. I just consider them a Pop band now. Haven't been able to listen to them for years. I think he was a great loss to music and his playing had a very American sound and feel to it. Don't think he gets enough recognition for his licks

Gervox
I have not willingly played any Chicago music made since the 1970's For good reason most of thier "new" stuff stinks! Terry was the best thing in the band in '77,maybe he had a vision of the future and did the honorable thing!. They are exhibit no. 1 as to why Punk had to happen as far as I'm concerned. After the 80's however they apparently seemed to get progressivly worse, if that could be deemed humanly possible!.Infact I would even go so far as to say that the later.............................. .....If You Leave Me Now, You Take Away The Very Heart Of Me,Wooo Woooo Wooo Baby Please Don't Go.............. Oh bugger!, I seem to have hoisted myself from my own petard!.
