My name is an abbreviation of Ishta Ambe (Gauri)

pronounce EEE AHM (I Am)

Really?

I was pretty sure your name came from this song

Gloria Gaynor - I Am What I Am

I am what I am

I am my own special creation

So come take a look

Give me the hook

Or the ovation

It's my world

That I want to have a little pride in

My world

And it's not a place I have to hide in

Life's not worth a dam

Till I can say

I am what I am

I am what I am

I don't want praise

I don't want pity

I bang my own drum

Some think it's noise

I think it's pretty

And so what if I love each sparkle and each bangle

Why not try to see things from a different angle

Your life is a shame

Till you can shout out

I am what I am

I am what I am

And what I am needs no excuses

I deal my own deck

Sometimes the aces sometimes the deuces

It's one life and there's no return and no deposit

One life so it's time to open up your closet

Life's not worth a dam till you can shout out

I am what I am

I am what I am

I am what I am

And what I am needs no excuses

I deal my own deck sometimes the aces sometimes the

It's one life and there's no return and no deposit

One life so it's time to open up your closet

Life's not worth a dam till you can shout out

I am what I am

I am I am I am good

I am I am I am strong

I am I am I am worthy

I am I am I belong

I am

I am

Who whoooo etc.

I am

I am I am I am useful

I am I am I am true

I am I am somebody

I am as good as you

Yes I am

Black Dawg was chosen because I use Dawg with the name most people call me by for my email addresses. Dawg came about back in the early 90's when my students began to call the teachers by their last name and dog. We thought it was funny and began to call each other by it also. Whenever I see a colleague from my old school we still refer to each other by the shortened last name and dawg. When it came time to register for a name I took the song that rhymed with my shortened last name and dawg.

Really?

I was pretty sure your name came from this song

Gloria Gaynor - I Am What I Am

I thought it came from this song

Adrian Belew - I Am What I Am

Friends seen an' unseen...to you that are ridin' along

In your automobile...to you that are sitting at you table

I greet you with the holy word 'peace'...

For with my infinite mind I thinks constructively...

And I'm able to draw whatsaever I want into my immediate

Surroundin'...for yo' minds are my mind

And my mind is yo' mind and I'm sendin' out

My mind to you, an' you, an' you...

You've got to remain to bein' yourself...you cannot be

Nobody else, it ain't no use tryin' bein' no whirlwind

An' uh, jumpin' here an' an' playin' checkers with

Your own life.. that ain't gonna work, baby...

Now repeat these words behind me:

'i am what I am'...now that's all you are...

You are what you believe you are...stretch out

So many of you all in radioland, you're not stretchin' out...

But I want to say one thing to you today...it makes no

Differen' who you are, what you're doin', what you're

Tryin' to do or want to do, repeat these words

'i am what I am and that's all I am...is what I am'...

That's all i, look, that, that's all I am is what I am...and I'm it

Make no differen' whether it's in the mornin',

The evenin', or in the night time...

Hair breakin' out, bald headed...it's the same thing...

You are what you believe you are

'cause some of you all are sittin' there right now,

Amen, an' tell if you had a necktie on yo', on now, right now,

A whirlwind would come along an' choke you to death,

That's how bad luck some of you all in...

Some of you all in such a bad luck right now

That you couldn't hit a barn with a baseball bat...

Some of you all in such a bad luck right now, amen,

If you was to sit down by-a-by-men, by a pond, amen,

Somethin' would come up an' stick ya'

You just in that bad a' luck...

I am what I am...now repeat this behind me:

'i am what I am and that is all I am and I am it'...

Yes, I know what you're sayin'...stretch out...oh, yes...stretch out

Q: What can you tell me about the Prophet Omega who does the spoken word lyrics on "I am what I am?"

Adrian Belew: The Prophet Omega grabbed hold of my brain and I wasn't able to get rid of him. He is—or was—a radio evangelist who worked out of his apartment in Nashville. I got ahold of some tapes of his radio show, but haven't been able to locate him or determine the age of the tapes. I think they're about 15-20 years old. I felt his voice was so contagious and charismatic that I thought he should live on in one of my songs. So, I spent a day in the studio dropping my favorite lines carefully in the right place in the music so they would make sense and work rhythmically. I've listed him as a co-author, so in case a couple of hefty guys drop by my place someday, I can say "here's your money." [laughs]

stretch out! :D

Not Gloria Gaynor.

Not The Twang Bar King.

Not Popeye.

Not the god of Abraham.

Tat Twam Asi ... in Spirit .. I Am That. Yes.

But most importantly ... it is my real Name.

Ishta Ambe.

I love you both. And I love your humour.

You may make fun ... and I will Love You.

I Love you both. No matter who you are or what you do.

Lurking around the forums for some time being unregistered, I decided it was time to join in.

I can't remember why, but I didn't feel like using my usual nickname this time. So I decided to pick something related to the band, but not something like the army of JimmyPages or ZoSo's or whatever. Then I remembered my French lessons on high school and the result is simply the French translation of one of my fave songs' name.

I initially typed in as Zepster, but it was taken, realizing that the ster was close to my name, steve, i then became Zepsteve. If you can find a story more boring than this one please let me know!

Why is that boring? It's fun to know why you picked it. Not boring at all. :)

I chose "The Rover" because is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs.

"The Rover" sums up for me what "Led Zeppelin" is all about.

I have been a fan for a long time, and have never yet burnt out on hearing this studio version of "The Rover". At this stage in my Led Zeppelin life, I would quickly turn off the studio version of "Heartbreaker" or "WLL".

The fact that "The Rover" is not apprectiated by most media reporting on PG or Zeppelin's great musical legacy as a whole, is also a reminder of how little you can trust any corporation to give you "the skinny" on anything musical.

Corporate Classic Rock radio has helped, by not over-playing "The Rover". In fact, they hardly, if ever play the song.

When PG came out in 1975, "The Rover" was the 'Hard Rocking' song that I liked the most from the album. I couldn't give a flying rat's ass what the radio decided to play. No matter how many times I hear the studio versions of "Kashmir", "Trampled Underfoot", and "The Rover"..... It's ALWAYS "The Rover" that sounds best to me. So coporate rock radio can play "Kashmir" and "TU" for the Millionth time....and it does not sway my opinion, not in the least!

I think it's because I'm really uncreative and Bonzo really does equal good stuff. Of course unless you click on my name, it just says "BonzoEqualsGoodS." I wish I equaled good s, whatever that means.

It's not uncreative. I think it's one of the more creative usernames on the forum. And, it certainly is true!

My username comes from a song by Babyshambles. La Belle et la Bete. In the chorus Pete sings " She's la belle, the bete and THE BULLE..." I always thought this was funny. 'The Bulle'! This mix between english and french...and well the belle, the bete and the bulle doesn't really mean anything. She's the beauty, the beast and the bubble...

My first pet was a black poodle when I was about 5. Medium size. One day I said in passing to my husband how elegant poodles are (the standards). Well that year for my birthday I woke up to a little black fuzz ball licking my face. My husband bought me a black standard. As a little puppy he was so entertaining to watch that I named him Jester. And yes the 61 is when I was born and that tells you just how old I am! :)

Stupid mine is, but I had no idea other people are using it on other sites!!

I made it up eons ago for the vh1 board. Then I was cinnamongirl here, natch.

Then during one of the board changes I had to change it due to losing all my info on the email password...

My thought was.... Plant is hot. Hotplant.

I used to like to choose different names on every new site I joined, because I had so many names I liked.

Now, it is easier to stick with one. Someone told me Google is trying to get peoples user names "permanent?"

When I first started interwebbin' in '96, I would always use music-related names on Yahoo chat.

Once I was C_U_Down_In_Arizona_Bay :lolo:

When October Rust came out, I really liked that album, so I used TypeO and it's been the easiest to stick with.
