Hot Pics of Robert

Lucky enough to sit very near the front at Robert's show in Manchester last night. He looked really well - I've never seen him before 'in person', and was mostly struck by tall he is and his very long slim legs :). Vocally he was great and he seems really happy and in a good place right now.

Oh, and during Going to California I swear he looked me right in the eyes...(or so I like to believe)!!

Couple of photos from hubby's phone..post-20026-0-98708400-1383126724_thumb.jpost-20026-0-12125400-1383126733_thumb.j

^ I certainly did clw, my friend kept joking with hubby to keep a good hold of me ;). I will aim for the front row if he plays Manchester again!

It's hard to describe if you weren't there, but the whole gig felt quite magical and spiritual, yet personal too - lots of references to Manchester (when he used to play gigs pre-zep etc).

Oh and he has a very nice behind, but we all knew that..

Not if this will work, but this is the video hubby got of Going to California...apologies if you can hear me singing at the start!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ2xalOsDj4&feature=youtube_gdata

The crowd around us were certainly appreciative from the start, if a little slow to get going properly. But there was certainly a lot of love in the room for Robert (that was just from me lol!). He did Black Dog quite early in the set, and I'd have loved everyone to have stood up from that point. It was WLL that got everyone standing up much later in the set. Originally the tickets were for unreserved standing, but then changed to unreserved seating - that probably changed the atmosphere a little (although possibly better for me as I'm quite small and usually struggle to see!).

I think there was a nice rapport between Robert and the crowd all the way through the gig, and a very laid-back and fun atmosphere, and felt quite intimate to me even though it's not that small a venue. He did Big Log and Rock and Roll in the encore, they both went down well. Rock and Roll was my other favorite of the night, really energetic and fun performance.

Angelah, it was a fab night I agree - did you wait outside at all afterwards? We did for a while until someone told us he'd already left!

Here's another pic, not as clear as the others but think it shows the fun he was having :)

We didnt wait around afterwards, but saw some real big lorries round the side of the Apollo, wondered if they were the roadies and the gear. Went past this morning and they were loading the lorries up, so assumed it was the gear and roadies. I suspect Robert was in a car and was whisked off to a hotel? Would dearly love to shake his hand and have a photo taken with him.

The set list was

  1. (Joan Baez cover)
  2. (Traditional cover)
  3. (Bukka White cover)
  4. Encore:

Love the photos, glad you ladies enjoyed every minute of it :)

I did mentioned to Angela about the size of his feet, you didn't spot them too aime1974?? I saw Robert with the BOJ in Belfast Waterfront Hall in Nov 2010 and from where I was sitting, which was up in the balcony, I couldn't keep my eyes off them......aaaaaaaand you know what they all say! wink wink nudge nudge

I do live near Manchester, about 8 miles from the city centre. Hope he does another gig here sometime! although I think i'd be willing to travel further afield to see him again.

Neat,I think it would be so neat to live over there

SozoZoso Big Log was excellent, had a very atmospheric, spiritual feel to it..and he made fun of his 80's haircut which was funny..I couldn't see his feet from where I was as I was kind of looking across and up slightly from Row 6, just his endless long slim legs...I think he's lost weight recently, he looked quite lean and fit :)

clw we did have beer, and icecream at the interval :)..Robert and icecream, now that reminds me of some lovely photos on this thread...

Angelah we waited round the side of the Apollo and watched for a bit while the guys loaded all the equipment onto the truck - I was hoping he might come out but not to be - the support band did come out and they were really nice guys, had the time of their lives and were just as awe-struck of Robert as everyone else!

Did you hear him say he'd met some people in Manchester earlier yesterday? Bit jealous of whoever that was!

I did read today that someone who lives in Manchester couldnt get to the gig, but he had shook his hand earlier in the day, plus Robert said he had met some really nice people earlier on in Manchester.

We didnt see much of the support band, they sounded good what we did see

Thanks for sharing all the wonderful details. :D I like knowing that his legs are " endless" and "slim".:drool::faint1:

i would love to hear big log from that show. and he does look great in the pics.

yeah shame we didn't get a video of big log, hubby was up swaying with everyone else by then (everyone in the room was swaying, pretty cool really!). Someone else may have put one on youtube though. I hope he releases a DVD from this tour if it's been filmed somewhere, not only is he in great form but the band are excellent too.

Another of hubby's videos for you to enjoy, R&R:

The only problem after the other night is that I am more obsessed than ever :)

Any of you ladies on here going to the London gig?
