It's only misquoting someone if you say they said something they didn't. You can't be misquoted using your own words.

Precisely.....

I'm not going to quote a whole post (especially the longer ones) when I only want to address one part of said post. When it's addressed correctly,it's no big deal, but when it's twisted around to change the original intent/meaning,that's when it's fucked up.

Either way it is imprecise to pull one sentence from ONE PARAGRAPH......and put your response to that (portion) of a statement as anything near precise.

And IMO, a person is still being an asshole to take a gift from a 2 year old because you are nearly 20 and jealous of said attention. The child loved the gift and her mother thanked me.

As far as moronic? More silly childish behaviour as far as I'm concerned. But then again this is the kiddie pool

You are most certainly wrong on this statement. There are more ways to misquote someone than one. Dissecting a paragraph and adding something vulgar to it and on top of that saying you did such because a one paragraph statement was "too long to quote?"

Is precisely a misquote.

Actually, you very well can misquote someone if you quote a comment out of context. That's the way jimmie ray's quote appears.

I don't remember (no way) the quote i did this with, but back on one of the threads about Obama/McCain, i did the same thing to (probably Type O, but not 100% sure). The person called themself a profanity and taken out of context it looked like they were actually saying they were that profanity, in the context it meant something different. Sounds confusing, i wish i had the actual post to show, but would take forever to find it.

Point is, i was being clever, same a jimmie ray.

So i need a pet peeve, how about a father who not only never calls his own child, but doesn't have the heart (or conscience) to return her very endearing voice message.

Looks like Asheville just bought a whole fleet of new crayola boxes. Now as far as I know they are still laying off teachers and talking about closing more schools to make the classes larger. Most of those bus's are quite well and fine. Where are they taking these children to be taught?

Empty school houses or classrooms with sub teachers or so large they are like a zoo.

The money should be invested in putting the teachers back on and if they need a school house for goodness sake's use one of the churches. There's like 5 on every block.

What?

Are they just for food parties and AAA? They just put a new cathedral of sorts downtown somewhere and they cant hire a teacher?

Unbelievable. Nothing against the faith, but much of the money is spent unwisely. Sports and churches should come after books and teachers.

I look at the word "misquote" the same way I do the word "misspell". If you misspell something, you spell it wrong. If you misquote something, you quote it wrong. For example, if I were to take a post of yours and remove words in mid-sentence to make it appear that you said something you did not, that is a misquote. You see that sometimes with movie reviews where it'll say "fun for the whole family" but the actual quote was something like "this movie would never be fun for the whole family because of the gory violence." That would be a misquote. It misrepresents what the person is saying.

If you post a very long post and I merely cut out all the parts I am not responding to, but leave the comments I AM responding to whole and in the same order that you typed them, that's not a misquote. That's merely cutting away what I'm not referring to in my response, much as I did here. I am only addressing the first sentence, so I cut out everything else.

Anyway, that's my $0.02.

Hey girly?

What's your knickers in a twist over. They don't have your brand of panty liners?

Uh-huh... I suppose it would be pretty funny to see your head twisted off by a girl? I only addressed you to ask if you could not display an offensive image - which, unlike your postings, is hard to ignore. Obviously, even if you did remove it, something even more controversial would take it's place. I actually was able to take some amusement from your antics, until people left or were banned because of your persistence to annoy.

Threat's of violence from persons so childish they believe I or anyone else will be impressed by them. Seems to me this would be punishable by liable for one. A disconnection of internet service and proper black balling from people who believe in peace.

Now!

Why do we not find out from the authorities if you can be bothered as I call them?

I will await your decision :P

I've said all I need to say to you. You cannot control what other people say and you are not everyone else's keeper either. Now if someone defends their right to defend what they say TO YOU because it bothers you that you cannot frighten them?

Not mine or others issue. The image is not bothering you. If you are offended by something so anti war?

Go fight with someone who will fight with you. As far as twisting my head off.

How petty and obnoxious, all on a board where children play? You should be ashamed of yourself.

I would suggest peace though. After all none of us have any idea what makes some of us tick.

I guess all the jokes can be a bit too much. But the idea is to get people to loosen up and have some fun. It's been a long day and I was a bit edgy 59...

Hi Charlie, hope you are doing well! I hope things are getting better or soon will with your son. Every parent should care about their own, but sadly many don't. Well they are the losers, not us!

Pet peeves: swim club closes tomorrow, summer is nearing an end, and i have to go back to work tomorrow night... 14 days off went too fast... or is this all better in the "unhappy" thread?

Thanks for the info, Mandy.

My youngest son is an English major and I was wondering what he would do with it. But he totally loves it. He was a business major when he was a freshman as he wanted to be in marketing, but he couldn't tolerate the economics and accounting. He is very happy now that he has switched to English.

He wants to be a writer. He has had three writing jobs, and alot of his writings have been published. I guess he is good at it.

Not enough naked people in the world. There should be alternating months of the year. Odd months everyone is nude and even everyone dresses like Sarah Palin :D
