fishhead
Strange the season opening on a weekend and no exhibition games! The first time they drop the puck is the first time any of these guys will play together in a game atmosphere. Expect some sloppy play for a couple of weeks in some cases. I dont know if it means less goals or more goals? It may help the goalies in a way but then again they may be rusty? Ill read your take in the morning Ally if you respond to this? Would like your input. Rick, have you seen a schedule? or know when it may be coming out?...cheers

I'm more concerned about injuries and with it being such a short season, many of those injuries could be season ending or have a big impact on who makes the playoffs. There won't be a lot of time for players to fully recover

LedZeppfan77
NHL channel has the 1979 final between Canadiens and Rangers. Montreal would win 4-1. but you would get to hear the voice of the Late Great Dan Kelly. One of the greatest sports annoucers of all time. The voice of the St Louis Blues and the national broadcast of the NHL in those days. He was fabulous WHERE IS THE DAMN SCHEDULE?
Strider
The fans ought to boycott the opening night. I agree and I would...EXCEPT if I do, then I would miss the raising of the Kings' Stanley Cup banner at Staples Center. Of all the years to have a lockout they choose the one in which the Kings end their reign of futility. Kings announced that they will raise their banner in the rafters, not on the wall with all the Lakers banners. It's going to be interesting to see how the Kings handle this season. Not just from the perspective of trying to repeat as champions, but also with the distractions and salary ramifications of being up for sale. Yes, AEG has decided to put all of its sports holdings up for sale.

I'm one of those who feels the regular season is far too long and that the Stanley Cup finals finish far too late. I know what you're going to say...start the season a month earlier . I'd settle for that !
zepscoda
The players' vote on the new deal is expected to end early Saturday morning and with all teams now in possession of a full plan for the 48-game season, the official Dallas Stars 2013 schedule is expected to be released publicly sometime on Saturday along with the rest of the NHL schedule. http://www.defending...l-schedule-2013 FRISCO, Texas - The Dallas Stars have teamed up with 7-Eleven to create the "Kids Free" Ticket Promotion, a new program for Stars home games allowing children ages 12 and younger to receive free tickets with the purchase of a full price ticket. The offer is an online promotion allowing easy access to "Kids Free" tickets with no processing fees. That is very cool, the entire NHL should do this IMHO

If the buisness end of the organization is kept out of the day to day and baring any major injuries, , then I think the Kings have an excellent chance of repeating. Sorry Rick . Arcane29
Nah, they can't officially release the schedule until the cba is ratified by the players, which will happen today. I do know sabres play Philly on Sunday the 20th, at home, at 12:30 on NBC, then are at Toronto on Monday. Thursday/Friday is a home and home with the canes. Sorry Rick . A lot will depend on how Quick's back holds up. The Kings say they won't use a normal Goalie rotation due to the shortened season, which means Quick's back better be recovered or he'll buckle under the strain. The Kings open against the Blackhawks...any Chicago fans here?
zepscoda
no schedule yet, but I found this on NBC's coverage of the first weekend : NHL schedule 2013: NBC to make history with opening weekend coverage BC will open this season with an the 2013 NHL schedule with a first. I've gone back and looked through 40 or 50 years of NHL broadcast schedules (albeit, there are about 15 to 20 of those years where the league wasn't on broadcast television), and this will be the first time a major network (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox) will air National Hockey League regular season games on consecutive days. It's been long-rumored that NBC will open up with a Flyers vs. Penguins national game at 3 p.m. ET on Jan. 19. It appears, however, that NBC will return to the old practice of regionalizing -- half the country will get one game, the other will get another. The other game? NBC's listings page confirms that they'll be airing the home opener of the Los Angeles Kings, as they raise their banner against the Chicago Blackhawks. The likely result is that NBC will either split the country into east and west, or possibly add in a third game (New York Rangers vs. Boston perhaps?) and further split things up, ensuring a boffo rating. On Sunday, the Flyers will pull double duty, taking on the Sabres in Buffalo at 12:30 p.m. ET. That game will likely (though it's not official) be nationally televised. Philadelphia is a big, dependable television market and Buffalo has Ryan Miller and a ton of crazies who watch, even though they don't make up that big of a rating. NBC Sports Network will likely begin it's coverage of the league on Sunday the 20th as well. It should be a fantastic weekend for hockey after an awful few months of wondering whether it would survive. The closest this games-on-two-straight-days thing has ever come to happening, you might ask? That would be Mar. 16 and 18, 1973, when NBC televised a Bruins-Red Wings game in primetime on a Friday night, and then aired a Red Wings-Blackhawks game the following Sunday afternoon. Bernier is more than capable of holding the fort if needed . It's not likely to happen but that's why I'd like to see the Canucks keep Luongo till at least the end of the season

I dont think he is better. I know he is better. Miller is better than Quick and its a team sport. One year does not make Quick better than Miller. Miller and Lundquist are the best two in the game. Then Cam Ward. Broduer is a hall of famer. I am not insluding Marty in the discussion because he has seen his better days and is close to retirement

Arcane29
Okay, I'm sorry, I love him and he is my avatar since I joined, but no way in hell is miller better than quick or lundqvist. Especially quick. Quick is not showing just a flash of brilliance, that has been his whole career. Miller had one vezina season, where he played really well and deserved it. His numbers outside of that season range from 10th-15th every other freaking year of his career. I love him and think, with a better team, he can lead us to a cup. The rose colored glasses can be blinding sometimes.
