ive read all the topics ( i think!) it seems like to most of you guys its " all about the music". of course the music is number one, without a doubt, no question. but to me, its the whole package that makes Zep the ultimate. i mean i like other bands...pink floyd deep purple etc etc, and lots of movies, actors books the list goes on.....but with Zep i am just so intrigued, so amazed at everything about them. do you know what i mean? like i listen to dark side of the moon and its great, but thats it. i dont want to know about their lives,i just like the music. with Zep i want to know everything! i cant get enough. to me its their music ANd their lives icluding THEIR interests, their fashion, their homes, their families, their favourite things etc etc...is anyone with me on this?

But seriously, I agree. I am interested in lots of stuff but nothing bordering on the obsession which is my interest in Led Zeppelin. Their stage presence, their humour, their appearence, is all part of 'the package' which makes them interesting and unique. I still learn something new about Led Zeppelin every day.

mmmm yes the dark side.....lol yes you've got it, thats what i mean the humour, the style and even the very secretiveness ( is that a word ?), everything just makes them stand out far beyond any other. im 45 and have never seen them live, but ive never been into them more than i am at this point in time. i notice you are a fellow aussie , perhaps its just us as we are so starved of them.....

For me it's the fact that I can listen to their stuff and still hear something new! I think that each one of them really had that "IT" factor, musically, and when you put it all together- Holy crap! That kind of a chemistry doesn't come along very often, and I think the potential was so huge, compared to other bands. It's just magical, even after all these years.

As for the occult aspect, I think it was and is highly misunderstood and overdramatized by media, fans, and of course bible thumpers.

I have never been that interested in their personal lives, but I sure don't mind looking at the sexy pics in the photo threads.

what a great analogy! (swap girl for boy in my case!) i am interested in their personal lives, but not in a creepy, stalky way, its just that i wanna know as much about what makes them THEM as possible. i agree about it being a powerful mixture of 4 amazing talents. each of them solo is a talent to be reckoned with. and i think all the occult stuff is bs, just one part of jimmys interests that got pounced on by the media who were mostly old fuddy duddys in the 70s, i suspect.

You are so correct, it is the entire package, it's the four of them and the, may I say magical way they came together, melded, meshed and incredibily became what we all know and love.

You have the mysterious, quiet, behind the scenes but yet so much more bass/keyboard/fantastically talented John Paul Jones.. You have the drummer who as many say "hits harder than any other drummer alive" and not only keeps, but creates the beat and groove... Then there's Robert, genetically engineer to be a rock star, sex on two legs not only with the ability to write the lyrics that will touch our hearts, but to deliver them in a way no other could.. and last, but certainly not least, the mystical dark and more talented than any man alive guitar player who can tease sounds out of that thing that only others dream of, without even trying...

I could go on forever, but I'm sure that you all don't want to hear my Zeppelin Ramblings... but you are correct, it is the whole package..

when you hear/read the books, stories and rumours of their beginning days, can you imagine any of them without the others??

For me zep was the only band that i just loved every song onthe album. I listened to them for along time and realized one day i didnt even know the name of half there songs cuz i was to busy listening to the album and not just certain songs, i myself think this is a bit odd but i think it speaks well for them. How many times have you heard an good song, went and bought the album and that song you liked is the only good song on the album maybe i should say cd but same difference. Plus they so have that mystic x factor this is a band that became one of the most popular and legendary bands ever with little to no radio play when they were starting out. they were like the little band that could and they did! There music certainly speaks for itself, hell the fact that theres a LZ forum 40 years after there first studio release and 28 years after ther last i think speaks volums for them.

totally agree, yes theres not too many bands that have an entire album of great songs, usually just one or two. when i put on a zep album i dont want the song to be over, and then the next one comes on and im like " oh yeah!!" and on and on. actually i cant put the 2003 DVD on without watching it all the way through....ive been late for work because of that. my boss just doesnt seem to understand....
