40 Years Gone: Led Zeppelin decoded + Dick Carruthers / Bradford International Film Festival

Recommended Posts

On Friday March 7th, as part of this year's Bradford International Film Festival, the National Media Museum, Bradford, UK presents a special event featuring screenings of The Song Remains the Same, plus a special guest appearance by director Dick Carruthers:

Archivist and documentary maker Chris Phipps looks back at the origins of über-rockers Led Zeppelin. This special event is complemented by screenings of the thinly veiled Zeppelin tribute Almost Famous and the band's legendary concert film The Song Remains the Same. Dick Carruthers is a multi award winning director of live concerts and concert DVDs. He is also the producer/director of the groundbreaking 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD set. He will discuss the artistic and technical challenges of selectively unleashing and showcasing the myth that is Led Zeppelin and reveal the challenges of directing last year's reunion gig.

The Bradford International Film Festival will also screen Almost Famous on Tuesday March 13th.

Yes, thanks. Sounds cool - hopefully we'll hear a report from someone there!

I'm probably going - Chris Phipps is interviewing Dick, he was responsible for a lot of stuff on The Tube (including Robert's apperance which was never shown) and some great TV over the years.

I think it's awesome that the UK is getting a lot of Zeppelin attention now... it's as it should be.

Enjoy, please let us know how it was.

I certainly will. Chris is an old friend and I had lunch with him just last friday so even if I can't make it myself I can get details of how it went.

Thanks for the info, Sam. Hopefully I will be able to make it - Bradford's not too far from me. If I do go, I'll be sure to let everyone know what it was like.

I would like to go but I will be working until 8pm that night so it's a no show from me. :(
