NickZepp
I'm sure this topic has already been discussed before, but it's not on the first page from what I can see. That's good enough for me. What are your favorite Plant lines between or during songs? From New York of 1975 "We ended up in a lot of strange places places in the world with a lot of strange people. Some good strange, some weird strange. But in the end we found, to cut a long, long story short. That there's a guy selling t-shirts there... that the Song Remains the Same." Styrbjorn
If you really like "Plantations", you should check this out. Compiled by a fan from many shows. Plantations, Dedications, Deliberations, and Sinister Connotations, 1969 - 1980 Compiled and completed between August 13-15, 2006 by the Seventh Son The premise is quite simple: This is a collection of unique live quotes from Robert Plant, otherwise known as Plantations. The collection contains no live performances from the group (unless you count the birthday tribute to Bonzo on track 60), but I figured the idea would be accepted by the community because Robert Plant was such an incredible frontman, and always had the right things to say on stage. Enjoy! TRACKS: 1 San Francisco 1969.01.10 2-4 San Francisco 1969.01.11 5 Stockholm 1969.03.14 6 San Francisco 1969.04.27 7-9 Newport 1969.07.06 10-11 New York 1969.07.21 12-14 Dallas 1969.08.31 15 Buffalo 1969.10.30 16-17 Bath 1970.06.28 18-20 Los Angeles 1970.09.04 21-22 Honolulu 1970.09.06 23-24 London 1971.04.01 25-27 Copehagen 1971.05.03 28-29 Toronto 1971.09.04 30 Osaka 1971.09.29 31-33 Adelaide 1972.02.19 34 Amsterdam 1972.05.27 35-38 Seattle 1972.06.18 39-48 Los Angeles 1972.06.25 49 Long Beach 1972.06.27 50 Tucson 1972.06.28 51 London 1972.12.23 52 Munich 1973.03.17 53-58 Berlin 1973.03.19 59 Salt Lake city 1973.05.26 60 Los Angeles 1973.05.31 61 San Francisco 1973.06.02 62 Los Angeles 1973.06.03 63-65 New York 1973.07.28 66-69 Baton Rouge 1975.02.28 70-75 Dallas 1975.03.04 76-82 Long Beach 1975.03.12 83 Seattle 1975.03.17 84-85 Vancouver 1975.03.19 86 Seattle 1975.03.21 87-92 London 1975.05.23 93 London 1975.05.24 94-95 Cleveland 1977.04.27 96-97 Zurich 1980.06.29 98-99 Berlin 1980.07.

MS1
My favorite show, 9/14/71, has some of the best Plantations: "You should have been here last night, last night there were several boller hatted beatniks." "Here's something that was got together . . . I was gonna say the Scottish Highlands . . . I was gonna say the Welsh mountains . . . but really it was somewhere like Gorham Hotel on West 57th St. So here's to the days when everything was really far out, all the time. And on that theme, it's not a very good cup of tea you get here, is it? And on that theme, this is called Going to California, which is somewhere near hear. With the flowers in me hair." I also like when he takes the piss out of Keith Relf before they play For Your Love at the Fillmore West, January 69: "We're going to carry on with something Keith Relf had todo with. Do you remember him? Works for Hammersmith Council now." I guess some of those negative reviews were getting to Robert.

Peep Solero
I like these the best: 1. From a show in 1971, Japan... "Bonzo gone bye, bye. Bonzo gone for bath with Geisha, yes". 2. From 06/21/77 L.A. Forum show: Percy filling time for Bonzo- "That was called Kashmir...let me take you there. Bit of trouble with the musical equipment here. Right now, the man who fought against the elements. The man who fought food poisoning. The man who drinks Heineken. The man who doesn't get out of bed. The man who hasn't got a cymbal. The man who's having a chat with this man who knows the man who tunes Jimmy's guitar and comes from Scotland and doesn't know the man they call Tim... but does know Audrey from Dallas (thank you). The man who now learns to construct his own drum kit. The man who's _not_ very professional. (Shuddup, wait a minute!) The man who said he could go back to a building site anytime (and we all agreed). The man who's holding up the show... the Rhinestone Cowgirl. C'mon Bonzo, get on with it! The man who played the Los Angeles Aztecs and beat them 10-1 by himself. C'mon, you silly fucker! The man one wonders: is he worth waiting for? ... and doesn't realize there's a curfew here. A childhood friend, a man who many people once said...`never 'eard of him,' John Bonham Over The Top!!!!" 3. From the 06/10 show in New-York, introducing "The Battle of Evermore"- "When we recorded this song we got a girl to help sing the vocals and we are pleased to have her with us tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, John Paul Jones on vocals. John Paul Jones on vocals!?"
Sunray782
From 3-25-75 (I believe) before TSRTS "I wanna see you sweat as much as me. Total satisfaction, y'know ... you can't get satisfaction yourself without giving it to the lady first...yeah. So we'd like to think that it's a male and female relationship where we should both sweat. You and us."

I heard there was some tension between Plant and Bonzo at this time and Plant ended up hitting Bonham backstage. Can anyone (Mr. SteveAJones) expand on this? Richard Cole wrote about this scrap in his book Stairway To Heaven.
The Only Way To Fly
I used to have Strange Tales on CV, & I remember the last disc with TTW in Japan being crystal clear audio & Plant saying something about "Jimmy's here he can't even come over there becasue there's a big hole there"..... Roxie
I like the one from St. Louis 1975 after IMTOD. He says something like "Do you know Kansas City - our friend Mr. Bonham got arrested there about 4 years ago... do you remember that John? The jail? Fantastic!". Also, during one of the Earl's Court shows (can't remember which one) during TTW after he sings the line "And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying, had they got you hypnotized........ a fish???". Ha!

And as soon as Robert Plant mentioned the badgeholder with the long, blonde hair, someone shined a spotlight onto her and she appeared to be blushing and slightly embarrassed. jesusmurphy
From the LA Forum, 27 June, 1977, after "No Quarter": "John Paul Jones has finally got that strawberry tart out of his pocket, and he also got it out of his hair...and he woke up with a half-tin of sardines by his nose, so I guess he had a pretty pleasant sleep last night. And so it is a great pleasure that we introduce him with his three-necked instrument, which is why we're so ENVIOUS of him. (And the same to you.) For a man who's always stayed in the background, he's been getting a lot of strawberry pie!" First time I heard that, I was like, "What did he just say?!" Throughout the first set of the show, Plant keeps making reference to John Paul Jones and strawberry tarts...suddenly it all makes sense, and what he says is pretty smutty if you stop and think about it. Of course, judging from all the numerous references made over the years, maybe Percy just had a thing about...ahem...cunnilingus...the "Oh, Georgina" section of "IMTOD" from 19 March '75 makes that pretty clear. (mind you, I've got a bit of a taste for strawberry pie meself...)

Roxie
Another fave of mine is from 1975 (St. Louis or Vancouver - right now I can't remember which). Jimmy has something - not sure what - on stage and Plant says "ohhh who's the lucky girl??? Jimmy has that, and all I have is this pencil, perhaps it's because it's made of LED! Oohhhhhhhh" All he needed was Bonzo to do the "bada bah" thing with the drums after, and it would've been perfect!
