Cat
CRISP POST-ZEP PAGE AND PLANT Chicago Tribune - June 12, 1998 Author: Rick Reger. A year ago, amid the hype of a reported Jimmy Page /Robert Plant reunion LP, I gladly would have wagered the farm that these once-potent rock warhorses were now spent and that their new opus would flop just as dismally. But "Walking into Clarksdale" is not only far more interesting and enjoyable than anything their respective post-Zep careers have mustered, but I'm also inclined to give it the nod over either of the last two LZ studio whimpers. Granted, the legendary heaviness is history, but the duo's crisp, energized renditions of pastoral folk-pop, Asian-accented guitar ragas and brash, punchy rockers could in many cases pass for outtakes from "Physical Graffiti." I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant perform Monday and Tuesday at the United Center. 1901 W. Madison St. 312-559-1212.
