OVERALL BEST 10 BEST CONCERTS YOU HAVE ATTENDED

Recommended Posts

Page/Plant St Louis 98

David Gilmour in Chicago on his last tour in 06. Much better than the footage I've seen from the Pulse shows.

Velvet Revolver at the Illinois State Fair. Right in front of Slash ain't a bad place to be.

The Mars Volta at the Pageant in St Lou. Easily the most intense show I have been to.

Here it is, in no particular order: I've never been to any sort of concert.

How fucking lame is that? The bands I like are all half dead or done touring :(

Its a cruel cruel world for us 23 year olds... What sort of cards must we be dealt?

My only hope is to catch the Smashing Pumpkins or the Mars Volta if they ever come back around. Those are the only two bands I'd ever go see that are still around today.

Well whats your ten overall best concerts you have attended does not have to be just Zeppelin.

Heres mine

this is not in any sort of order

1.) Led Zeppelin - Baton Rouge 1977

2.) Led Zeppelin - New Orleans 1973

3.) Alvin Lee & Ten Years After with the Outlaws St Benard Civic Center Chalmette La

4.) Edgar winter & Rick Derringer with Ruby Starr & the Grey Ghost plus Thunderhead same as above

5.) Queen - the Forum LA CAL 78

6.) Robert Plant and the Strange Sensations Nashville 2005 Ryman theater

7.) Edgar Winter Ballys casino 1998 during frankenstien he was less than a foot from me .I was at the table in the front of the stage and he came down and played right there to cool . They played two shows

that night and guess were i sat for the second show same place.

8.) Page/Plant - Tupelo Mississippi 98 nice venue Met Jimmy and Robert at Elvis home there they bought two elvis t shirts and Jimmy was wearing a straw hat got there autographs did not have my camera with me it was at our hotel . But we told people at the show about it most thought we were full of it .I wonder how they felt after Jimmy came out for the oncore with his straw hat and a black elvis t shirt.Robert wore his black elvis t shirt also.

9.)Lynyrd Skynyrd and Point Blank Warehouse New Orleans

10) The Allman Brothers / Wet Willie 1971 New Orleans Warehouse

After seeing the list there are so many more that could go here .Hell theres a whole list of just Zep related shows that could fill this page but i said 10 and did not want to post only Zep shows but i have never been to a bad one yet.My worst Zep show was proably Baton Rouge 75 Roberts voice was not really on that night and the crowd was not as into as some of the shows i went to but that show was still better than any non Zep show on this list.Thats how i roll

I give props for seeing Led Zeppelin.

But you saw The Allman Brothers in 71, that means you saw them when Duane and Berry were in the band. :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

06 Sept. 1975 it was only Black Sabbath, no back up band. Way too loud, a lot of distortion. But a good party!

bump

I'm sorry, this probably seems like a bunch of nonsense.

I haven't been to many major concert venues over the past

ten years or so, mostly club gigs.

At first I had nearly twenty listed, but can probably

stand by this top ten, with only one bit of cheating.

John McLaughlin Trio: Montreal Jazz Festival July 1989

Billy Cobham: Graffiti, Pittsburgh, PA 1990 or '91

Rusted Root: Nayabingi club, Morgantown West Virginia. New Year Countdown party '92-'93?

Phish: Metropol, Pittsburgh, PA 1992-11-30

Grateful Dead: Dean Smith Center, University of North Carolina 1993-03-25

Rusted Root: 1993 Great Blue Heron Music Festival, Jamestown New York 1993-07-04

Steely Dan: Starlake Amphitheater, Pittsburgh 1993-08-14

Nohshintoh: Japan. dozens over the past 10 years.

Neville Brothers: Nagoya Bottom Line, Nagoya Japan 2008-10-27

Peter Solo & Kakarako: Tokuzo, Nagoya Japan 2009-08-16

McLaughlin was cosmic.

Cobham was a tour de force on the drums and gave

a mini workshop after the show for those

geeky enough to hang around for 30 minutes

after the house lights came back on.

New Year's Eve in Morgantown? What more need I say?

Probably explains why I can't remember the year.

The Dead, well, the bus came by and I got on,

that's when it all began....

Steely Dan is the only concert I've every been to where

not only were most people in the lawn not standing, but

they were actually lying down for the majority of the concert.

Very kind people.

Enjoyed all the Nohshintoh shows,

especially the ones I wasn't taping, but remember less of them.

Two in particular, which took place on somewhat remote mountainsides

and required hitch-hiking stand out, but, if you let them,

they'll take you on a ride any day of the week.

Neville Brothers little by little had the initially sedate crowd

whipped into a frenzy by the end of the night...

which reminds me of seeing Dr. John playing a free concert

on the street in New Orleans during Mardis Gras...

maybe that was better than meeting Phish backstage

the first time I ever saw them perform.... though call.

Peter Solo was dizzying.

Nice lists.

Awesome ticket stub scans.

Ok, I'll disappear again now. :-)

Happiness Friends.

1 - Led Zeppelin, Tampa June 3, 77 (yeah, that one :lolo:) Best 3 songs EVER!

I don't know whether to envy or pity you. :)

Saw many since then in my visits to LA.

... and you've seen a helluva lot of classic shows too. :notworthy:

3. Steely Dan and Kee Kee Dee in San Diego

Steely Dan was easily the mellowest rock-venue show I've every seen.

What was the scene like in SD?

Led Zeppelin Sydney 1972

Page & Plant Sydney 1996

12. Jimmy Page - Outrider 1988

Guns N Roses and Aerosmith 1987 Orange County Fairgronds NY

Lucky!

Saw that GNR/Aerosmith tour too. In terms of historical significance,

it's a badge of honour, but I don't remember that much about the show itself,

very early in my concert-going career... rode to the show with some upper-classmen.

Outrider didn't come anywhere near enough to make it, for me at that age.

It was at Orange County Faigrounds, Middletown, NY. At the time the only song I had heard of gnr was the jungle. It was obvious I was behind the times because the place went absolutely nuts for the whole show. I will never ever forget how crazy the people were, probably the rowdiest concert I had been to at the time. Banging head, throwing fists, air guitars everywhere and just the unbeleivable energy of Axl was a sight to be seen in itself. He was all over the stage, sliding, jumping all over the place. The way I remember it they ended the show with rocket queen, but the jungle was the highlight because it was the only song i had heard at the time. It was so amazing. Also, Slash is a sight to be seen onstage. Unfortunately I was not very close to the stage. When they got over Aerosmith came out. I don't remember what they opened with but it was nothing like the thunderous power of gnr. Many many people left. This was not the better years for aerosmith. I clearly remember aero playing dream on and it was historic at least for me. I'm pretty sure that was the "love in an elevator tour". Overall gnr blew aerosmith off the stage just like extreme blew the stage off of zz top. same venue.
