Well I just chose the name of one of Led Zeppelin's songs that wasnt taken. Should have thought it through more. Can see why some will think Im a girl. Now no nasty comments from my "enemies" please. It is a classic (the song) and I am here for one reason, I am a die hard Led Zeppelin fan and always will be.

I don't see anything wrong with it. At least yours is Zep related, unlike mine.

I guess I joined on impulse. Been a Zeppeliin fan since 1970 and course like the rest of us old timers witmessed the birth of cable and the internet. I didnt know about this site till under a year ago. Never thought about it really. I guess one day I must have just did a search on my favorite band of all time and what do you know. Someone created a site. And a damn good one. the timeline and discography is fantastic. My hats off to you createrors. (not to Harper).

I found this site shortly before the O2 show. This place is like a Hoover, it sucks you in!

Yes it does suck you in. And then you get into these "thread wars" and it escalates and causes bad feelings between members. That is the only bad part. and people do come on here, and Im probably guiltier than most, with a good buzz on and say things they regret later.

Shit happens sometimes. But as long as we all move past it, it's all good. B)

BTW Spats, that women you were supposed to meet and then lied about who you were. If I understand a subsequent post of yours, you said the original plan was to go to a movie. DON'T EVER GO TO A MOVIE ON THE FIRST DATE, ESPECIALLY A BLIND DATE. I used to wait until the 4th or 5th date to do a movie, the later the better.

Why?

For starters, the movie is probably 2 hours +-. Then you almost have to go out for a snack, another 1 hour or so. So you've invested about 4 hours. For a first date, it's a lot of time for both people to invest. Take the woman out to dinner. I would buy a ZAGAT's restaurant guide for Toronto. I suspect Toronto has a great selection of restaurants in all price ranges, types of food, atmosphere, etc. It's all in a ZAGAT guide. The dinner can be anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on service and how well the CONVERSATION is going. If the service is bad, you won't even care. Now you(and she) will learn how the other person carries themselve in not only a one-on-one discussion, but also how they 1. treat strangers/other people (the wait staff) 2. eating habits 3. Generosity 4. Etc. It's also an opportunity for you to show her how nuturing and caring you can be. THIS IS ALL IMPORTANT STUFF.

If you aren't into her, it's easy to bail out after dinner.

I've been on tons of dates. I made mistakes. Yeah I've pissed away a lot of money and at times felt frustrated. I've dressed like a slob. I've said stupid things. I learned. I've also had my share of good times, VERY good UNEXPECTED times and bad times. I can't say I've ever had a very bad time. I've had dates set me up with their friends.

I'll keep it short, but one horror story is....somebody I dated started a matchmaking business. She contacted me months later and offered me a free membership(lack of men). She fixed me up with somebody, who on our one and only date, wanted me to escort her to a friends house to collect some money that was owed her. It was too early for me to get involved with her shit, plus I didn't want to have to break any legs.

Another interesting observation....the Spats thread is separate from the Man thread. Make what you will out of that.

 But he still pops in over there.

Not at all, wait until the appropriate time, and then find an out that will work for the both of you. Funny how I've never had a date like that. You can pretty much talk about anything, to anyone. Being offensive is a different story.

Movies are a bad idea. You need to work on other aspects of yourself if you can't be successful at regular dating.

It's ok to make changes to yourself.

Being offensive?

I can fine at regular when i am on one.

Oh behave!

Ha, Bento box, never heard of that but sushi has been tasting better than ever lately! Eel rolls are my favorite at he moment but anyway,

And Spats, kay..you not responding to phone messages, emails, texts, etc, that's just a plain annoyance to the people you know :P But seriously when you do that, it looks like you don't care and probably makes these women think they're insignificant in your life, so they'll just not talk to you at all. And you've only been to the pizza pizza place twice, she won't think anything of it.

Yeah you are right, it probably comes across to them that way. But i have always thought that it's best to leave them wanting more than for them to get tired of you.

You are right again. i will probably have to go to Pizza Pizza a bunch more times for her to maybe notice. I wish i had movie star looks or movie star charisma so i would be memorable right away. i want to be a head turner.

A bento box is the only kind of box Spats can get. If you know what I mean.

It's better than waiting for them to come to you, but it still won't work. Bottom line, you have to grow some balls.

Perhaps this Box is what the doctor ordered.

Yes, I'm completely aware that I've just wasted my breath.

It's not about being afraid.

I will have to close the deal because most of them will just refuse to do it?Well, you know how i feel about women like that. If they won't do it because they are shy, i can forgive that. But if they think it's the man's job then they are not cool and not worth the time.

The dates i go on are fine. But i don't pay for the dinners until i know that it's going someplace with her. Like we are gonna start dating regularly. Until then i always make sure we are each paying for our own stuff so i don't get taken for a ride. I am not gonna pay for a couple dates and then realize things are not working out and i have shelled out a lot of money. Then i feel used.

You are right though, eating with them is a good test. If she is a messy eater or has bad eating manners like talking with her mouth full, etc. Then you can end it after that.

What do you mean eating out with them can show how nurturing and caring you are?

Well they wouldn't be able to even get to any level of tiring of you since you make it hard for them to be wanting more, they probably assume youre just brushing them off. As long as youre not completely clingy, they won't tire of you. I hate when people do the "leaving them wanting more thing", you should show a woman that she's desired by you.

I'm not trying to tell you to stalk the poor girl, but pop in there every now and then..become a regular customer! Haha, movie star looks/charisma? I know what you mean..but you don't need to turn heads, although you could..with personality? I don't know, someones gotta like you!

In order for that to be effective, you gotta throw out just a little bit of an appetizer. Like, at least one or two phone calls that you initiated...It is ok to initiate things, you know.

You want to make sure all their needs are met. That's what they are looking for. Do they have enough soda, wine? Ask if they'd enjoy an after diner drink. Even desert(chances are they'll say NO, but YOU ASKED).

Oh, I forgot. On the way out of the restaurant do 1 of 2 things. Either, 1. Open the door for her(it's a good opportunity to get a look at her caboose) or 2. Give her a pat on the ass. Her reaction will tell you where things are going.

All her needs are met??? :o Dude, the dinner is for me too ya know. It's not all about her. I am not catering to her all night. The waiter can ask her those questions. I am not gonna be her waiter for the evening.

I can forgive any other excuse for them not doing it but if it's because they think it's the man's job then i don't want them and they can tell their story walkin'.

I'm not saying to spend the entire night fawning over her, just show her you are a nice person. Look you're the one having problems. I've had my fair share of action, so I must know something. Hey, maybe you are not meant to be in a relationship. There are plenty of 50 somethings walking around who appear to be perfectly happy alone.

You are probably right. But i have been doing it that way with ex girlfriends and potential girlfriends since i got out of high school that i am sort of stuck in that way of thinking now. I have seen so many women pass on guys who showed they were interested for guys that took them for granted that it makes you believe it's the way to go. And it's worked for me a lot of times. How messed up is that? :o

I am gonna be a regular customer there for now and see how things go. But being a head turned would help a lot. I wish i were one of those guys where women go .."wow". And you can tell right away they are interested. I have always wanted to be a guy like that.

Well it's just the way you worded it. I have to get enjoyment out of the night as well. The date is not all for her.
