Ciao Reggie!

The not so good thing about Grant and the boys (please note only for me) is that they never play at places like the Basement and The Vanguard in the city. Sorry, but catching a taxi to the city is AUD 30, to Blacktown is AUD 80. It costs me more than the ticket... :(

Hey Amazonic,

Thanks for the heads up on your travel plight lol.

We'd love to play at the Vanguard or the like. We played there a few times and it was just great.

The issue is that those more upmarket venues in the city only book when they are confident of a big night.

It would greatly assist us if you could email the venue and let them know you'd love to see us.

I have included a link for the Vanguard and the Basement.

Cheers

Hi Grant!

Yeah, the Vanguard is a nice little cozy place hosting great blues, rock, jazz and tribute gigs.Honestly, my favorite compared to the Basement...

They had a gorgeous Robert Johnson tribute show that I will never easily forget...

Anyway, thanks for the links for both clubs. I am sometimes in touch with John @ the Vanguard, so I might email him and we'll take it from there... ;)

Anyone heard from AMAZONIC?

ciao Reggie!!

Check out your FB. Left a message for you. ;)

I am currently holidaying in Italy. I have disappeared from the board for a while, tooooo busy! This is the first time I find some time to check in here.

All is good, hope to see you to the CCent LZ tribute show at the Enmore Theatre....

ciaooooo

she's just left for an overseas holiday. but she has been busy lately anyway .... whole lotta love .......

:D So appropriate, STZ! ;)

Hey gang. Just here for one of my increasingly infrequent stops to check out what's new in the world of Zep. I'm keeping busy, and my long absences will be well worth it eventually, I promise. I've got some excellent projects in the pipeline, including not 1 but 2 Zeppelin related ones! They are moving along at snail's pace, which is typical of the industry, but hopefully we will get there some time soon!

Speaking of which, does anybody have any personal recollections of the Zeppelin tour down under in 1972?

Looking forward to the CCE show at the Enmore - they are moving on to bigger and better venues it seems, should be great. Although I love the intimacy of the Basement gigs too.

February 27 1972 2.00pm

It was a balmy summer's Sunday afternoon, rain clouds had threatened all morning but thankfully never eventuated.

My good mate Muzza and I jumped on the train and headed into the city.

We arrived at Central Station and walked the couple of miles to The Sydney Showground, more accustomed to holding Rodeos and such rather than rock concerts.

Thousands of people had gathered estimated at somewhere between 26 and 38 thousand.

They threw the gates open about 15 minutes before it started.

The stage was set back about 50 yards from the boundary fence, the stands were full except for a handful of VIP's sitting on the grassed area.

Several fans tried to join them but were tackled by the cops and escorted back to the stands.

The band ripped into the Immigrant Song and pandemonium broke out when we charged on to the field and the cops didn't know what had hit them and gave up the chase.

As fast as it started it ended when everybody just stopped and sat down all at once for a few seconds then started going off.

We were about 10 yards from them centre stage

After a couple of songs Robert said "Hello Sydney, I hope it doesn't rain and we have to stop, otherwise we'll all blow up!" and the throng erupted.

One of the many highlights was when they played Bron-yr-aur Stomp the whole crowd clapped along with the chorus in perfect time, a real "you had to be there moment".

I left there with a feeling that I was part of something special that day and it only seems like yesterday, even though it will be 36 years ago at the end of the month that The Mighty Led Zeppelin landed in Oz.

Set List

1. Immigrant Song

2. Heartbreaker

3. Black Dog

4. Celebration Day

5. Since I've Been Loving You

6. Stairway to Heaven

7. Going to California

8. That's the Way

9. Tangerine

10. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

11. Dazed and Confused

12. What Is and What Should Never Be

13. Moby Dick

14. Rock and Roll

15. Whole Lotta Love(inc. Boogie Chillun - Hello Mary Lou - The Rover - Let's Have A Party - Lawdy Miss Clawdy - Going Down Slow - The Shape I'm In)

16. Communication Breakdown

17. Organ Solo/Thank You

Now also at:

Laycock St Theatre 18 Sept (I'll be there :D )

Waves Wollongong 19 Sept

Less $$ than The Enmore too

loads and i will try and make it too. not sure yet, but it's so close it would be a shame to miss it. $$ very tight atm, young sons birthday a few days after it. the cost at the enmore is what is stopping me going to that one. :(

If you're planning to see TCV be prepared to pay up to $150 a ticket!
