My most recent purchase was "Death Magnetic" (Metallica) and the DVD "Lucky You" (the poker movie "Rounders" was better).

"Concert for George" DVD - tribute to George Harrison, shortly after his death. Normally, I don't get much out of all star jams, but Clapton and Jeff Lynn do a very nice job here. Billy Preston is a joy to see. Ringo and Paul join in at the end, and "Photograph" is well done and very meaningful. The first half of this is all Sitar, which I find entrancing - but might not be for everyone.

The End - Shades Of Orange/Loving Sacred Loving, a classic rare psych single from 1968.

Shades Of Orange were co-written by Bill Wyman, who also were the bands manager/producer. It was cut while The Rolling Stones were recording Their Satanic Majesties Request album and it features Charlie Watts on tabla(!).

^ Excellent. I picked up Fresh Fruit on vinyl not too long ago. Good record.

And I love The Smiths now. At first, I didn't dig them too much. I think it was Morrissey. But I got past his, ahem, "unique" vocal style and really listened to his lyrics. He really is a superb writer. But I still think a big selling point for me is Johnny Marr's playing. That guy is awesome!

Anyway, I felt like I needed to add some hardcore punk to my music diet, so I went and bought this on vinyl...

^ I've never been a huge Smiths fan either but I got interested in them lately. They have definitely written a lot of great songs. I sure agree that Marr is a top notch guitarst.

Ebayed several albums in the last week or so, along with visiting a few used shops.

Led Zeppelin- I-HOTH, TSRTS, Presence

Pink Floyd-Obscured By Clouds

Beatles-Sgt. Pepper's- it's not the super valuable 2653 mono version, but the same catalog number in stereo

Robert Plant-Pictures at Eleven, I've never listened to Robert Plant solo. How is this one? The samples I heard didnt sound too bad.

The wife stopped off in a place I've been meaning to go and picked these out:

Beatles-62-66, 67-70, White Album, Magical Mystery Tour

Rolling Stones-Hot Rocks

ABB-Brother and Sisters

Lynyrd Skynyrd-Street Survivors

Ozzy-Blizzard of Ozz
