alwizard03 Posted June 5, 2008 Share Posted June 5, 2008 I don't scare easy, when on solid ground - but I wouldn't last a day, there... 20 years in the Navy and the last 13 civillan years have been out here .Its all I know other than Music. It pays well and nice scenery plenty of really large fish swimming round the platform all the time .We are a floating spar we have 14 anchor Chains that go down 2600 feet to the sea floor and we just bobble like a cork on the surface. My dream is to teach Yoga but...tough way to pay the bills. I'd rather be able to do that for free and live independently wealthy As it is...my first and best job was a lifeguard at a private pool club. Lot's of waitressing jobs thrown in here and there (the best was at a disco in the 80's when the Dom, lines, and cash flowed freely!) Long term work as a racehorse groom, then on to trainer and owner. (LOVED working with the horses, fabulous animals! The people - not so much) Decided to ditch the agriculture career and learn the use a word processor. Got my foot in the door in technology because the manager of the QA dept. of a small start up software development company just HAD to see the person that was submitting the crazy resume above...he fell in love with my attitude and intellegence and hired me on the spot. Had a great big huge corner office and felt like 'the shit!'....then they went under, Ahahahah!! Offshore drilling? Where are you working if you you don't mind me asking? Interesting. From what I know of you and the kind of student you are and how you seem to gravitate toward people, I imagine that you'll become a professor some day too. You probably are too busy to think of it now but one day you'll probably take the path that many of my friends and I did: getting a bit bored and restless with being in a K-12 classroom but still loving to teach and still loving your content area all while missing the intellectual stimulation of being a college student. Feel free to PM me any time if you want any more info. My list of jobs looks sparse compared to yours but only because I didn't list all the different employers I had and tasks that I did. For example, when I was in high school, one of the corporate intern jobs I had required photocopying and hand collating manuals. After making all of the copies, I had to lay them out around a huge table in page order and then walk around the table picking each page up and keeping them in order until I had made a manual. Then I did it again....and again....hundreds and hundreds of pages....there were many, many boring jobs like that but I put them all under one heading.
