Soundboard Wish-List

One Symbol

Recommended Posts

You know I like AUD recording for the experience, but after hearing the same guy yell "Play Fucking Neil Young" and the fact most of the time, there is no bass freq. to speak of. If i had a soundboard of LTTE and the actaul tape from Millard of the same concert, Ill probaly pick and chose which songs to listen to from each source. Yes AUD recordings are great, but once you put some volume behide most AUD recodings, they just sound absolute shit.

I agree there are some audience recordings that aren't as good with one of the parts. Vocals could be out or one of the instruments(outside of drums usually) is weaker or out. But the best audience recordings are usually better than the best SB recordings IMO.

I honestly wouldn't care if it was a SoundBoard recording OR an Audience recording, I just can't wait to find the full 07/11/79 Knebworth show, either for download or sale.

That and the 2 July 1972 shows in LA and Long Beach.

You mean 8/11? There's plenty out there from that show of both.

New England (Boston 1969), early 1973 (Germany stuff would be great) and stuff before then, too.

Bonzo's playing was even more amazing then.

any rehearsals from that period, too.

I agree with the posters who dig excellent audiance recordings :) I'll take them over SB's any day...

what I really do love are 'Matrix' I think getting excellent SB's for the LA shows the 21st 23rd 25th and 27th would be even better then official releases. amagine that huh?

the 3-7-70 Montruex show Matrix. as well as 9-4-70 LA Matrix these are just a couple excellent audiance recordings that could use a good SB to go with.

  • 4 weeks later...
Anything pre-1973

But talking about the later days:

1973/07/21 Providence, a perfect performance

1975/02/14 Uniondale

1975/03/21 Seattle

1975/02/07 MSG

+ a January concert

1977/06/13 MSG

1977/06/22 LA

1977/04/30 Pontiac

+ the ones we have no recording off (St. Paul, St. Louis...)

Having read reviews of the concert and knowing that it was before RP got the flu, I'd like to add 1975/01/18 Minneapolis to my wishlist :)

id probably mess my pants if the following were available SBDs:

EITHER bath festival... wait, make that BOTH.

boston 69

a show from 71 that isnt BBC

maybe 4-26-69 just to hear the first pre-theramin whole lotta love performance clear as a crystal

pretty famous gigs... sort of a cop-out i know,

but im new to bootlegs and only have 30 or so of the best S.Q. gigs... still wetting my feet with some of the lesser sound quality ones... my apologies...

by the way.. can anyone "recommend" some "bootlegs" of great shows from the 68-72 era that i might not already "have"??

Sorry, I was being a little facetious - it was late. Most of these are soundboards, and would definitely recommend these:

2/14/69 Miami

3/16/69 Copenhagen

3/17/69 Gladaxe

5/19/69 Boston

6/27/69 London

7/6/69 Newport, RI

9/4/71 Toronto

9/9/71 Hampton

6/19/72 Seattle (Double shot of Dancing Days in this show)

10/2 & 10/4/72 Japan

P.S. Once you get started you may need more than 1 external drive. :D

thanks for the list...

my "source" doesnt "have" any of these shows... looks like i need to start "hunting" :o

the old "source" i "had" wouldve "had" all these, but someone hacked "his" sh1t and deleted all the "links" and he got p1ssed and shut it down  you may or may not know who it was.. he was very well represented in the zeppelin community.

i know its a touchy subject (why else would i may or may not have used "quotes" on all the keywords?), but feel free to give away any "sources" that may "have" these.

thanks there buddy, real good to find more places like that....

... on a downside, looks like i need to purchase an external drive...

"ive" got zeppelin "burnt" onto cd's and dvd's and thrown all over, zeppelin "on" this computer that barely has enough space left to power up, "ive" got like 7 usb jump-drives filled up and thrown who knows where, and i "stole" space on my school's server (30 gigs); all in the name of the zeppelin.

and i have all "my" non-zeppelin music on my buddies external.

i think its time.

  • 2 weeks later...

I bought a King Crimson double CD set that included a booklet that contained some absolute revelations about the Fillmore West. In the late 60s Bill Graham had a reel-to-reel under the stage and would tape every performance unbeknownst to the performers. King Crimson found out about this and obtained a copy of their show for the aforementioned CD.

This got me thinking about Zeppelin's 4-24-69 'soundboard' show from the Fillmore West. It's too full bodied a recording to be even the best soundboard. When Bonzo unleashes his bass drum triplets in the first minute of As Long As I Have You the beats sound like they're emanating through the floor of the stage, the way mikes under the stage would've picked up the sound. My theory is this is one show that got past Peter Grant. Equal to a Mike Millard (God rest ye) recording.

Soundboards from Paradise?

Denmark May 3, 1971

Houston May 20, 1977 (this is available I just don't know where, I attended this gig)
