Spacewoman
Yesterday my younger brother (a huge LZ maniac) came to visit us. I couldn´t resist and I had to play him my new Zep DVD with a concert from their early years, from Royal Albert Hall.We were sitting in front of my computer screen and were enthusiastic. My 21 years old daughter came home with our 2 dogs, said hallo and dissappeared in her room. We were continuing watching the DVD and were really excited about the performance. We didn´t realize, that she was standing behind us. "Mom?" she started talkin´to me. "I must tell you-those "Zeppelins" play about 100% better than all the other bands you were listening earlier. You can even listen to them, which you cannot tell about every group! Those guys can really play!" My bro and me turned to her. "Oh! Do you really like them?" I said. "Yes! And I don´t tell it ,because I want to oil your tongue or because you are my mom. Their music is so out-of-the-way, interesting, something I have never herd efore. I love Jimmy playing the guitar with the fiddle-bow, thatś terrific! They have only a few quite simple instruments, but they conjure with them in such awesome way! You can believe me,I´m able to tell a good and worthy music from cheap commercial shit!" I must say, she didn´t hear Led Zeppelin before, because I have always my headphones on or a mp3 player. She only knows them from the poster on the wall in my computer corner and from my talking about their music and from my endless swooning about Robert´s beauty and voice and Jimmy´s beauty and guitar" "Oh, thank you very much," was the only thing I could say, quite speechless. I didn´t expect such kompliment from a young fan of Depeche Mode, Erasure and other electronic music, which has certainly it´s magic too. Maybe we will have soon an other Zep fan in our family! Cactus
January 9 1970, Royal Albert Hall - Jimmy Page's 26th birthday, and an excellent performance. This was the band at one of their many peaks.

My son's have been Zeppelin fans for years. Not that they had any choice I think it just boils down to talent really. Zeppelin have stood the test of time and I think the real young fans are tired of the over produced trash that is being pushed on them. They'll gravitate to good music just like we did
Virginia
That's wonderful! My youngest daughter (6) spotted a pic of Robert on a magazine in the FYE record store the other day; she walked me over to the magazine rack, pointed at the picture of Robert and said "Look Mom!! There's that guy from Led Zeppelin!" very proudly (and loudly, lol) (I can't remember which magazine it was, but it had to do with British rock and had a dvd included). Lilith
She likes the Immigrant Song; that seems to be the one the little kids like! I suspect the reason for that is that it features in the soundtrack of one of the Shrek films (I can't remember which one, though)!

slave to zep
i have 3 kids aged 21, 19 and 8. when the older were young , i wasnt allowed to play zep while their dad was around, he hated them. i have since been divorced ( little wonder eh! ) and have tried to get them into it, but so far , no go. however , i too have heard my little one singing immigrant song. yes he has seen shrek, but i think its more due to me playing DVD almost daily! That is such a cute story. I added a nephew and a niece to the Zep fan clan. They both love Zeppelin now. Hey if your gonna promote a band? PROMOTE THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME! Then she pretends she wasn't looking.

It took me a while to discover Zeppelin, because I had to find them on my own. Once I discovered them, I felt like I had reached an epiphany or something But really.. their music is magical. It's real.. And that was such an adorable story I'm so glad to hear that.
jesusmurphy
I can think of a couple of similar incidents in my own life. My mum was the big Classic Rock fan (must be where I got it from); dad wasn't much of a music guy. Anyway, back when the 4 CD box set came out, they got it for me for Christmas. In our family, tradition dictated we opened one present on Christmas Eve whilst sitting around munching on cheese and crackers and veggies, etc, fireplace crackling away, and so on. Well, I opened the box set (I had all the LP's, of course- most of 'em from mum's old collection- Zeppelin III was scratched to shit; you could barely hear "That's The Way"...). My mother was like, "Oh, put it on!!!", so I did; they'd had a couple glasses of wine (I was fourteen and had one too; didn't like it at the time...). So the three of us sat there most of the evening listening to Zeppelin; I think it was around the time it got to "Kashmir" when my dad goes, "You know, these guys are pretty good. I'm surprised; it's not all bashing away or wimpy stuff." Mum and I started laughing, and were like, "Well, YEAH!". My dad asked, "How many guys were in the band?" I rattled off the names and instruments..."Four people?! That's one guitarist? That's incredible!" Dad goes. "Why aren't they together anymore?" Mum told him why. "Shit, that's too bad." I never would have figured my old man for being a Zeppelin convert... Fifteen years later, and my boss at work was moving on to greener pastures. She was a music lover, particularly the harder rocking bands (she liked Zeppelin but wasn't hardcore about them.) Well, my boss and co-workers were more than used to my blasting away Zeppelin boots, occassional air drumming, etc...so, as both a going away present and as a memento of our working together, I burned my boss a copy of the "Badgeholders" show and gave it to her. I didn't think she'd actually take the time to listen to it...but a couple of weeks later she phoned me; "I finally got around to listening to that Zeppelin concert you gave me...damn, that was cool! Those guys kicked ass live! No wonder you like 'em so much." She went on to describe how her four year old daughter was bopping around the living room listening to the show- and how her ten year old son wouldn't stop playing it since!!! "I think you better burn me a couple more- I'm already downloading the studio discography." I said I would (and did: Seattle '73 and BBC '71.) It was only after getting the Zeppelin talk out of the way that she went on to describe her new job...
Suz
I used to be married to a musician with a disdain for Zeppelin, until I asked him to explain what the fuck is going on in Black Dog. We were in the bar and he just sat there staring at the ceiling while it was playing. He knitted his brows and looked at the celing the whole time. When it was over he shrugged and said, "Damned if I know."
Jimmy's A Legend
My sister came into my room yesturday and said that she thought Black Dog was a cool song then bugged me to play it all the time...then i thought,"hey maybe she is beginning to like good music!" But then sadly she said that she had decided that she didn't like Black Dog and the music is "too old" and that it all sounds the same.....then i played my vinyl records to her proving that their music is not the same then after, she just said "well....i think that they are shit and the only reason they are famous is coz they are freaks" I can't even look at her anymore and it is now difficult for me to belive that we are related
