jethro tull anniversary dvd

It's available for pre-ordering on Amazon UK - and to be released on June 2. A fully authorized history of the band, should be interesting. The 25th anniversary DVD is nice to have and fun to watch, but of course it's not a full history of the band. :)

Jesus Christ dude, grow a sense of humor. I'm simply referring to the prevalence of flute on Tull's albums, an instrument not exactly associated with rockin' music, and the long-running joke related to them winning a heavy metal Grammy over Metallica.

Then I referred to the fact that lead guitarists get chicks, but replaced "guitar" with "flute", inferring that "lead flutist" kind of sounds silly in that context. See what I did there? Zing!

from wikipedia:

The band won the 1989 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, beating the favourite Metallica and their ...And Justice For All album. The award was particularly controversial as many did not consider Jethro Tull hard rock, much less heavy metal. Under advisement from their manager, who told them they had no chance of winning, no one from the band attended the award ceremony. In response to the criticism they received over the award, the band took out an advert in a British music periodical with a picture of a flute lying amid a pile of iron re-bars and the line, "THE FLUTE IS A HEAVY METAL INSTRUMENT."

At least they have a sense of humor about it, even though you clearly don't.

This was hardly a battle of wits, JT. I wasn't even battling at all, and don't think I'm much of a head-schoolmaster type either. B)

You started the nonsense with this remark........

"Well, your post, if taken literally, is completely pointless in this thread, so it makes me wonder what you mean. And if you can't state your actual point, perhaps it may not be worth making at all. Are you a fan of Jethro Tull at all?"

.......proving that you have zero sense of humor or the ability to interpret any attempt at satire. I also have serious doubts about your Tull knowledge. Every Tull fans knows the last few studio releases AND recent live performances have been overburdened with FLUTE.

Look at the June 2, 2008 date on this list. Is that what you are talking about? The ministry is probably more up to date than the official site.

Thanks for the link. A shame that still few information is provided. I see also a new DVD called Live in germany which I doubt uf it is official. And finaly a remastered THis was which I understand even less..IOan doesn´t rate that line up very much!

40th Anniversary DVD? Good stuff- I'll happily wait for that to come out.

It would be nice (although probably extremely unlikely) to see the "20 Years of" video transferred to DVd and released officially - some great stuff on there. A nice extra would be the "Fish, Sheep & Rock & Roll" Channel 4 documentary from around the same period. A boy can at least dream... :)

Not true at all. First of all, not only does Ian play a lot of songs from This Was live TODAY, but he and the band sound great on those early blues tracks. Second, Clive Bunker and Mick Abrahams have been guesting on the current shows in the UK. I'm sure that initial line-up holds a special place in Ian's heart. So what do you mean "Ian doesn´t rate that line up very much!"? I suspect and hope that Glenn Cornick makes an appearence or two when the band plays in California.

Ah, so it's Jon Brewer's production company who have put this DVd together. The DVD they did on Yes was excellent, I thought. :D

Let's hope Ian doesn't perform his famous "cutting and pasting" routine that he is so famous for when editing old video.

Matbe you are right. However I do remember a quote from Martin Barre which read "the only JT line up which has no historical importance was the first!

Bulls**t. Tell me where you read that junk. Martin has never said a bad word about ANYBODY. He would never say something so disrespectful about people he has known for 40 years? He was in the band with Clive and Glenn for a number of years. And he also knows and has played with Mick Abrahams.
