cowbell666
so i'm going to give a mix CD to one of my friends, and he's never heard Zeppelin before, except probably Stairway. what songs do you think would be a good to introduce him to the band? i mean, i want him to love Zeppelin after he listens to the CD. so, what i have so far is: Communication Breakdown No Quarter Ten Years Gone D'yer Mak'er (previously i had Royal Orleans but decided to replace it with this) SIBLY do you think those are good for my purpose? definitely a very diverse sample. but i don't know. any other suggestions? I don't want to put more than 5 Zep tracks on the CD because it's supposed to be a "mix". lol. otherwise i would. edit: i just had a sudden urge to replace CB with WLL.... damn it! i want all of them to be on there!!!! cowbell666
well i know he listens to stuff like Journey, Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Elton John, plus just current pop music. i don't really see how any of it is comparable to Led Zeppelin, but maybe it is. 040879
Curious...from your description it seems like your friend doesn't really listen to music much. To like Journey and fleetwood Mac and presumably never to have heard Zeppelin seems a bit odd to me. So..if they really have never heard Zep,really never, ever, outside of Stairway..then try Kashmir,Your time is gonna come, Royal Orleans, heartbreaker, and maybe Since I've been etc or No Quarter, with a good live version of either of the last two. If there's no positve response at all...well.. refer to their'taste' as previously stated and gracefully give in,secure in the knowledge that they don't really listen to music much. Good luck. cowbell666
well, he named a bunch of bands but those were the only ones i had heard of (i don't keep up on current music at all). i just mentioned LZ to him and he said he had heard maybe a couple songs. (maybe he has heard more on the radio and just didn't know they were LZ) and i wanted to put on a live version, but i really think its important to hear the studio versions first. thanks for the suggestions though. Kashmir should be good, your time is gonna come is probably a good one. heartbreaker too! thanks. now i have to just decide... btw, this is currently a long distance friend, he used to live near me but moved. otherwise i would just be lending him my Led zeppelin discs. I once thought as you do. I tried something much like this myself, many years ago, using C90 cassette tapes. It didn't work. You see, everybodys tastes are different! You've put one song in your list that would not feature in mine, and thought about replacing one that I concider essential. I think the greatest glory of Led Zeppelin's studio music is the entire body of work as a WHOLE. my advice would be to stop trying to bribe your friend with freebies and simply buy him the entire collection. Go on, I know you want to! It is the only way you can save your friend!.
