hot dog
A couple of thoughts on Thursdays show: The setlist changed a bit - in came Hey Hey What Can I Do (have they been playing this or was this 1st outing on this tour?) and a version of Matty Groves that Robert said they'd be working on all day. It was worth it - absolutely fantastic. The band was very tight - they also appeared to be having a ball up there - lots of laughing and smiles. The drummer was amazing!T-Bone - bloody hell, he's a big chap isn't he!Battle of Evermore - what a fantastic rendition. Alison sure can do the song more justice than JPJ on the vocal front!Alison's vocal - more impressive live than on CD, she possesses a truly glorious voice; perfect and very strong with (seemingly) minimal effort. It was a very enjoyable concert, and anyone boycotting these gigs are missing out big time. If Robert does choose to concentrate on this path I could understand why. I was sat in row C, here are a few photos:

bath1969
i was in block 1 row v and i must say the sound was awseome the whole concert was sheer delight, anyone who fails to go these concerts because of the musical direction Robert has taken need to sort their heads out, still got the voice and in his own words "deconstruct the past" absolutely brilliant. Roxie
Thanks for the review & pics. Hopefully the security at the show was better this time compared to Manchester!
hot dog
Thanks for the review & pics. Hopefully the security at the show was better this time compared to Manchester! The security at Cardiff was, as usual, quite relaxed. People were taking photos from the aisles and towards the end some stood at the front and it all seemed to happen without incident. SIBLY
Well, there's my first big disappointment. Birmingham was brilliant but MATTY GROVES, I'd loved to have heard them sing that. Alison's voice is amazing live. On Trampled Rose (where on the record it rises gently at the end of most lines) its practically a weapon it's so powerful. PIPER
A couple of thoughts on Thursdays show: [*]The setlist changed a bit - in came Hey Hey What Can I Do (have they been playing this or was this 1st outing on this tour? I saw the show in Tennessee. They sang Hey Hey What Can I Do there as well.
fenix
I was up on the first balcony right of stage. The sound and veiw were pretty good. As my mate valleygirl said Battle of Evermore was stunning, Alisons voice has to be one of the purest I've heard and Robert was having an absoloute ball and his voice was in fine fettle. Even though its a fairly large arena you still got that sense of intimacy with the guys up on stage. The band didn't get a note wrong all night and man can T-bone rock it when he wants too. I must agree with Hotdog, anyone who is boycotting these shows is missing an absolute treat!! To sum up, a brilliant concert and one of the best I've been too for many a year.
