jhelgeson79
I don't believe Zeppelin ever played this song live in its entirety. But I was listening to the Hiroshima gig from '71 and during the Whole Lotta Love medley, they do play the main rockin' riff from 'In the Light'. I think they also played it in the L.A or N.Y. gig in September of '71 during 'Whole Lotta Love'. Anybody familiar with these performances of 'In the Light' or know of any others? NickZepp
I'm sure they were coming up with some of the music before recording it. But the song wasn't recorded till 1974. It wasn't played live till Page and Plant I guess. It definitely wasn't played in 1971.
Zep Power
I saw Plant perform that in 2001 in NYC at Roseland Ballroom. Pretty good....
DanelectroGod
Robert used it to start off his shows on the Now and Zen tour with video screen images of zep. It was pretty good
Evster2012
Technically speaking, Zeppelin never played In the Light in its entirety at all. Not even in the studio. They recorded a song called In the Morning with Jones on Farfisa organ, and totally different lyrics. The song was put on the shelf until the band decided to revisit it. The organ and vocals were scrapped. The synth intro, middle break, and clavinet parts were recorded, along with new vocals, and additional guitars, and grafted to the original drum and bed tracks from In the Morning. A big, albeit beautiful, cut and paste job. I say cut and paste because the length of time between where the drums come in at various places are different on the two versions, but the drum tracks are in fact the same take. pop
Any video of this? I never knew they played this live; Page, Plant or otherwise. I'd love to check that out. A real 'depth' song in the sense that it is such a strong track on the album that gets no notice but is so terrific.
beatbo
Any video of this? I never knew they played this live; Page, Plant or otherwise. I'd love to check that out. A real 'depth' song in the sense that it is such a strong track on the album that gets no notice but is so terrific. page and plant threw some of the lyrics in as a teaser in "HMMT"during the '98 tour, i think the first time was in budapest and then for shepherds bush and paris. i think paris they also threw in "we're gonna groove". in america, that teaser changed to "IMTOD", "down by the seaside", season of the witch", "spoonful", and "ICQYB" among others. add: oh yeah, there's video....
