Is it any coincidence that Whitesnake are also featured along with Zep on version IV? Also featuring Stairway on Guitar Hero IV which came from Led Zeppelin (IV). Don't want to read too much into this.

Excuse me, but does Guitar Hero have 12-strings ? ? ? ?

Frankly I just don't see it happening. The money really isn't good for these games, literally 1.2 cents per unit. For a band of their magnitude, why bother?

The above website is a suggestion/request site. It is by no means official. Even the website says that it's "their" personal list and no songs have been officially announced yet.

Before the GH haters get their panties in a bunch, this is fake. That list has been going around the net for a while, and it is absolutely, positively, without a single doubt fake.

And plus, GH4 is a full band game. Stairway doesn't have full band action for about 4 minutes in. Will the drummer just sit there for 4 minutes while the guitarist and singer are having fun?

Also, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd will never let Guitar Hero use them. Ever.

And, "Walk" by "Panthers?" Don't you mean Pantera? If a supposedly official site gets that wrong it's probably fake.

I hope not. Most of the kids my age say they love a band on Guitar Hero, but they only like one song. that means you like one song from a band, that does not make you a number one fan. Led Zeppelin should not be a fad.

Just to clear some stuff up: that list is completely fake. There is very little official info on Guitar Hero IV yet, and none of it is Zep-related. They HAVE announced that the game will contain something like 80 songs total, that it will be a full band game like Rock Band, and that the following four artists will be included: Linkin Park, Sublime, The Eagles, and Van Halen.

Why would there be three Aerosmith songs in GH4 when they are doing a whole separate game devoted to Aerosmith that will be out soon? Also, look at the list - Guitar Hero games have, sadly, always had to include a mix of old and new music in order to try to sell the game to both both people with taste and people without it. There's no way that much classic rock would be in one GH game.

And please, In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida? Like the target audience of Guitar Hero could ever have the attention span for that.

Led Zep Says "No" To Guitar Hero

Clients including Van Halen, the Eagles, Steely Dan and Guns N' Roses "all have deals of varying types in the works with one or the other or both of these companies," says Mr. Azoff, referring to the makers of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

But some bands have resisted the call of the new medium. Led Zeppelin's thundering riffs are among the most sought after by music game makers, but the group's guitarist, Jimmy Page, and his bandmates have repeatedly turned down offers from both Activision and MTV, says Peter Mensch, a partner at Q Prime Management, which manages Mr. Page, along with Metallica and other acts.

The sticking point: The band isn't comfortable with the prospect of granting outsiders access to its master tapes, a necessary step in creating the games. "It ain't about the money," Mr. Mensch says.

Last weekend, a new game called Guitar Hero: Aerosmith went on sale, the latest installment in the hot-selling Activision Inc. franchise and the first to let players jam along with music centered on a single act. A version of Guitar Hero featuring the metal band Metallica is due out within the next year, and Activision is in serious discussions with Van Halen about showcasing that band in Guitar Hero as well, people familiar with the matter say.

Other major acts are also in serious talks with Activision and Viacom Inc.'s MTV Networks, maker of Guitar Hero's rival, Rock Band, about licensing their songs to the music games.

Guitar Hero World Tour (formerly known as Guitar Hero 4 and Guitar Hero IV) is a forthcoming entry in the music video game Guitar Hero series, and will be developed by Neversoft and published by RedOctane and Activision, set to be released on October 27, 2008. The game is expected to be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Wii consoles.

While the game will continue to feature the use of a guitar-shaped controller to simulate the playing of rock music, Guitar Hero World Tour will expand to also include the use of drum and vocal peripherals. Furthermore, according to Game Informer, the game will allow users to create new songs, including drums, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and bass guitar, although the studio mode will be without vocals, because of copyrights and storage limitations. It is confirmed that players will be able to upload and share their songs.

Rumors, etc......

All songs in the game will be master recordings, a first for the series. Neversoft claims that there will be more songs on disk than any other Guitar Hero game.[4][6] IGN reports that the game will feature over 85 songs.[8] While there will be a renewed commitment to downloadable content, existing downloadable songs for Guitar Hero III will not be playable in World Tour, according to IGN.[8][17] Downloadable content will be available through the in-game store and will include full album downloads and more regular releases compared to Guitar Hero III.[8] Project director Brian Blight claims that they have "a pretty even split between the '80s, '90s, and classic rock" with a "good amount of emerging bands".[6]

Three bands have been confirmed for the game from the Game Informer preview:

Van Halen, The Eagles, and Linkin Park. IGN's preview reported that Sublime's "Santeria", Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell", and Foo Fighters' "Everlong" were featured in the game.[8] The Game Informer preview also suggests that Dream Theater may be included. Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way" was featured in the world premiere trailer[18] and was confirmed as a playable song in a demonstration of the game at Wall Street Journal's D6 event.[19] Blink 182's "Dammit" was featured in a video showcasing the game's drum set featuring former Blink-182 and current +44 drummer Travis Barker doing motion capture for the game. The video also featured Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith along with The Police drummer Stewart Copeland commenting on the performance of the prototype drum set.[9]

A leak from a market research firm also mentioned that the game would feature Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol and Muse.[20] Furthering speculation about the inclusion of The Smashing Pumpkins, a picture has been released of lead singer Billy Corgan wearing a motion capture suit. Billy Corgan has also been reported as working with an Associate Producer from Neversoft who does work on motion capture. [21]

Other sources have provided information regarding the inclusion of other songs within the game. While it has not been confirmed by Activision, The Answer mentioned in a press release that their 2005 single "Never Too Late", off the album Rise would be included in Guitar Hero World Tour after they won a contest at 2008's Marché international de l’édition musicale conference.[22] A press release from Fearless Records announced that the song "One Armed Scissor" from At the Drive-In's 2000 release Relationship of Command will be included in Guitar Hero World Tour.[23] When Chris Vance was asked if the Aerosmith song "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing”" would be in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, he confirmed that it "will not be one of the songs that’s in the game" but gave a comment, considered a hint that we could expect it in Guitar Hero: World Tour, saying, “That song would be much more suited to a full band game if anything”.[24] Joe Satriani has said that his Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 "have just licensed 'Satch Boogie' and 'Surfing with the Alien' for upcoming versions," according to an interview with Satriani in Guitar World Magazine.[25]

Another recent survey rumoured that the game will feature the band Tool, as well as featuring more playable characters including Ted Nugent, Sting, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimi Hendrix, Hayley Williams, and Zakk Wylde.

Guitar Hero I do not see happening. It's a fad and I don't see Zep or Floyd hopping on that bandwagon. However I do see them in Rock Band, as in that game it is more about the music than getting a high score.
