daeja
HI everyone! I'm new and recently started listening to all my old Zep albums. I was wondering if there is anywhere I could find out more about what is behind the songs. I would love to know the story behind No Quarter, Dyer Maker or When the Levee Breaks. Any ideas? lucyinthesky
If you mean a book, try these: * Led Zeppelin: Dazed and Confused: The Stories Behind Every Song, by Chris Welch, ISBN 1-56025-818-7 * The Complete Guide to the Music of Led Zeppelin, by Dave Lewis, ISBN 0-7119-3528-9 Than I can tell you just some trivia facts: D'yer Mak'r is a wordgame with "Did you make her" and Jamaica and a tribute to the jamaican Reaggae Bands. When the levee breaks is originaly by Memphis Minnie, an old blues woman. She didn't get any money for the song and died poor. The great drum sound is due to the mics were hanging down from the Big hall's ceiling in Healey's Grange where IV was recorded. I'm sure, other guys will know more
