Roxie
I FINALLY got to see this show last night, and I can now understand why all the reviews have been spectacular. I had high expectations, and this show exceeded it. Alison sang beautifully, and Plant was AMAZING. For the most part everyone sat down, but right before "Black Country Woman" everyone rushed the stage (which Plant seemed to enjoy), and he sang his ass off and it was turned into a heavy song which surprised me. It sounded so good! "Nothin'" was highlight for me, as was "In The Mood" and "Battle Of Evermore". I also think Plant knew he had the ladies going during "Black Dog". During the show one girl ran up to give him a bouquet of roses, and another one ran up to shake his hand, and another actually jumped on stage, but was escorted away. The security at the venue was very easy going as far as video and picture taking went. Even though their website stated "no camera/recorders", they didn't even check at the gate, and everyone was taking pics and recording vids all night. I can't wait another 5 weeks for the next show, I need to get to another show soon! Here's one pic I took during the show. There's about 100 more I need to go through. kirchzep27
I just got home from the -plant krauss show at wamu theatre, at msg and it was great. I think it was the 4th or 5th song in, alison krauss sang a song and was lit up in green and the whole stage was blue....she was leaning back, singing and looked like a mermaid, or a siren...or felt like it from her singiing, just incredible. The plant/krauss combo was great on the songs they sang together, but it was really cool the way the broke it up in between the singing, solo and together and alisons fiddle playing. I guess i'll wait for someone to post a thread on this show, the -black country woman version was really good and i think -t bone burnett chose not to solo on a song, but i'll wait to hear what others say about that to make sure i heard what i heard. kirchzep27
Here's an amazing vid from that show. New coordinated outfits! Battle Of Evermore I'll check that out later on a cable connection, thanks for posting it. battle of evermore was a great song, was less impressed with the quiet version of black dog, would have preferred another traditional song. Still blown away by -alison krauss' voice live...and as if thats not enough, her fiddle playing is perfectly placed in the songs live. I agree that -in the mood was very cool as well, good choice with the simplicity of it and it being framed in this kind of music.
