Barack Obama vs. Internet rumors

And whats this 'nobama' jazz? Liberals call McCain, 'McCain'.

I refer to McCain as "McSame" with some frequency. Politically, it works.

And frankly, I don't mind the "nobama" chide at all. Afaic, it's.. nobiggy. ^_^

Serious disusion of the issues is well and good,

but campaign politics can be fun too, ya know? ;)

I'm really disappointed in McCain. He was a Republican I actually liked, until he started ass kissing and flip flopping.

Yes!It turns out he was another assembly line, hardcore conservative without a brain!

It was like the Manchurian Candidate except he went off too early!

I don't actually think he is. I think he's pandering to them to win (which may be even worse)! :(

The definition of spin I subscribe to:

"In public relations, spin is a usually pejorative term signifying a heavily biased portrayal in one's own favor of an event or situation; it is a "polite" synonym for propaganda"

I consider anything put out by the campaigns as spin/ propaganda.

I wouldn't agree, and you (likely) wouldn't either if McCain was the recipient. Machiavellian philosophy is generally cold comfort.

As to the second part I guess you must scroll through hermits posts, as do I. ( he owes me a scroll mouse, btw) :hysterical:

You got me there.

Hypothetical: If he were to stop with the name-calling bullshit, would you?

I'm no McCain supporter, I consider everything he (or any politician) put out during a campaign, propaganda.

You're no McCain supporter, eh? *

Pray tell then, who are you supporting in this election?

Obama

McCain

Ron Paul?

Bob Barr?

* fwiw,.. I don't blame you for not wanting to proclaim your

support for John McCain; I'd be pretty darn embarrassed too. ;)

You don't support Obama, thus, he's "nobama".

You don't support McCain, yet you don't corrupt his name.

Was this a variation of the "I'm not Republican...I just vote for them every time" attempt at proclaiming oneself an 'independent'? Or something else?

Got any good ones then?

Presidential or otherwise?

I'll choose otherwise and name the the biggest one I can think of.

Nam. A war we were going to win until liberals smeared the shit out of it and made it look like we were running away leaving our weapons behind.

Cheers to liberals

Thats hermits job, I'm just trying to provide some fairness and balance. :hippy::whistling:

For the record, in 9 previous elections I've voted republican twice and both times it was a vote against the dem candidate not for the repub. I usually vote libertarian or some other third party or independent candidate. I would vote for Hillary if she ran as an independent. I think we need better choices than we have been given by the status quo.

Thoughts:

1) The liberals smeared The Vietnam War? The war smeared itself.

When the motivation for conflict is a politically motivated 'domino theory', which as it turns out was rightfully bullshit...it's difficult to conjure up meaningful resolve. Only in the wars were we were hit first, have we unquestionably prevailed. The Tonkin Gulf incident draws strong parallels to Operation Canned Goods.....

2) How do you know we we going to win the war?

We had (and have) not won in a similar conflict in Korea. In fact, the Chinese intervention had similar effects with the Tet Offensive.

3)The lack of clarity in your example was glaring. When working with nothing but presupposition, it shows.

Being biased is not an attempt at "fairness and balance". It's being biased.

I find it hard to believe that what Hermit does, you must answer in kind.

Why Hillary and not Obama?

And why Hillary and not 'Billary'.... ;)

If you were into telling the truth you'd admit that

"NOBAMA" was your response to " Go Obama!! :cheer: "

So perhaps you're offering up an anti-Obama slogan to

"provide balance" to my pro-Obama slogan.. is that it? :whistling:

:P

So... you have a thing for superficial labels?

And.. you have a thing for names not being.. [oh, the humanity!].. "corrupted"?

I'm not saying that the war was entirely justifiable. However, I'm just pointing out the fact that the liberal media is what made us pull out, nothing else. The Tet Offensive was, at first, a minor victory for the North Vietnamese. However, America pushed back in a counter-attack that sent them all running and was actually a resounding victory for us. But, the only thing the media saw was Americans running backwards for a day and told the public that the war was lost. Good job, media A+ job.

Anywho, I don't know for sure that we would've won Vietnam for sure. Do I think we would have? Yeah, I'm pretty positive we would have, but thats just a what-if, no one can really know.

And Korea...we did win Korea. The countrys are separate are they not? Our goal wasn't to conquer the North Koreans, just make sure that it didn't take another country by force.

3)The lack of clarity in your example was glaring. When working with nothing but presupposition, it shows.

Lack of clarity? Dude, I threw one example that popped out the top if my head, how clear could it have possibly been. I don't really want to get in-depth with the history of smear jobs of conservatives and liberals...

For god's sake, not every war has a winner or a loser. Vietnam was the first time people saw war in their living rooms. The media did it's job and people made up their own minds. I remember the news in the 70's. It was actual news- not the infotainment crap we have now.

I'd assume that since you seem emotionally invested in the topic, you'd actually know what you're talking about. I know I would. Why wouldn't you?
