Any Steve Miller fans "milling" around the forum? Just found out they've got a new "Live From Chicago" DVD out. I saw it a couple times on HDNet I think it was....pretty good music DVD. They've got info about it on stevemillerband.com if you want to check it out.

I saw them with ZZ Top in the early 90's and they put on a great show. They played all the hits.

I used to have the live album with Chuck Berry. Their 'Magic' video is pretty cool too.

Somebody get me a cheeseburger!!

I saw the "Live From Chicago" DVD recently & it was pretty good- excellent version of "Crossroads". I noticed he plays the same Gibson doubleneck (red too) as Jimmy on "Winter Time". He also plays an interesting looking guitar on "Wild Mountain Honey" that sounds like a sitar. I've been a fan of his for a long time but I really prefer his pre- Joker material from 1968-1972.

Maybe I'm not qualified to comment on this...BUT....during the early 70's I was more interested in the Tull's and Zeppelins of the world. I only knew of Steve Miller's radio hits and quite frankly they didn't inspire me to go out and buy anything. Did I enjoy hearing it on the radio, yeah probably. But going to a show or buying an LP? Nah. What did I miss? Some crappy blues rock?

I caught him once, and thought it was terrific blues music - with less than half the show being his hits. I loved every song, and it sure made the wife happy, too! That's the suprising part, with many of the blues songs having quite a bit of harmonica...

Before his tour started, Steve Miller recorded some tracks with R&B/soul singer Sonny Charles for a new album to be released later this year. Supposedly he's previewing some of the songs on his tour now- I guess I'll find out July 10th when I see him at Radio City. It's about time he recorded some new stuff, it was getting kind of tiresome hearing the same old hits over and over.

Yeah its like stale Bread or Green Bolagna :D:D

But all joking aside it would be nice to have a little new material.

Also saw him with Robin Trower at old Winterland.

They've both been around many moons.

True Steve and Robin have been around a long time but Steve has never spent much time touring unlike Robin who lives on the road.

Trower was in the Seattle area not too long ago.

One of these days I'll post the pic I got of him at Winterland (when you could actually take in a camera)
