I understand why Jimmy played WS/BMS on the Danelectro, but I have always wondered if he played Kashmir on it as a matter of convenience to go straight into Kashmir (tuning) rather than because it was the best guitar to play it on? Evster2012 Posted June 17, 2009 Share Posted June 17, 2009 Having played it many times on both, the Dano definitely has a tone that gives the song a more Zeppelinesque edge. Empirically it just feels right. The first time I brought the Dano to rehearsal and we did Kashmir, it was just "Oh yesss! THAT'S the ticket!". For me, the "holy grail" of affordable Zeppelin axes is the 59 Dano. It would be a stellar gem on my wall, especially if ol' Pagey brandished it with his ink.
