Zosofan11 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I think led zeppelin might want to reconsider their choice about turning down guitar hero. It is now one of the biggest games in the world and if you ask me thats good advertising. so what do you think... yes or no and what song? for me its yes and the ocean Quote
LivewireYouthMusic Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Hiya, I think guitar hero is great and rockband we have both at Livewire and young people just starting out love playing them. Do Led Zeppelin need the advertising?? No not at all they are the greatest rock band there has ever been. That being said I would love to see them on both guitar hero and rockband, for he if they did it would have to be wholelotta love ) All the best Andy I think led zeppelin might want to reconsider their choice about turning down guitar hero. It is now one of the biggest games in the world and if you ask me thats good advertising. so what do you think... yes or no and what song? for me its yes and the ocean Quote
Chetta2323 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 they should let them use there songs so more people can hear the music of led zeppelin and more people would like them Quote
Footsteps of Dawn Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I agree. If it turns kids on to Zeppelin, heck yeah they should be on there! Quote
marmorek Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 There should be a Led Zeppelin-only edition of Rock Band. I say Rock Band rather than Guitar Hero because I think it's a much better game and that all four members contribute so much to the band. Quote

I'm obsessed with it.... but the song selection is slim pickins.... I'd love it if they had an extender pack chock full of Led Zeppelin songs. Quote
BIGDAN Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 NO Led Zeppelin has always been about the music, and games are for little boy's, so I would have to agree with the above poster 'slagfarmer' and say "NO" to the use of their music in a game. I don't thing Jimmy Page would be too amused about it either, do you? Quote
Zosofan11 Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 they should let them use there songs so more people can hear the music of led zeppelin and more people would like them yes. thats what i ment by advertizing. sorry if i didnt make that real clear. Quote

Zosofan11 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 and heres a nother bit of info... gh4 is going to include drums and vocals with a better drum set.. google it Quote
darkrei9n Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 and heres a nother bit of info... gh4 is going to include drums and vocals with a better drum set.. google it Dude... Guitar Hero sucks. Activisions going to milk it for all the money its worth and mess it up. They have mad how many DLC promises they broke? I think they said that it would have the most DLC ever? Harmonix who makes Rock Band realizes how important the masters to songs are. They keep all masters that they have with them in a locked safe when they aren't using them. And to all those who say games are for kids? Do you realize the average age of gamers is in the 30s? So don't say its for the kids. And to those who say go play a real guitar. If I want to pay 200+ dollars for a guitar and lessons. I would go do so. But I don't really want to learn to play guitar. (Drums are better) Quote
Scott78 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I dont see why it's mandatory that Zeppelin do GH . They dont need the money as some bands do . And second they really dont even need the exposure . Aside from The Beatles and Elvis , Zeppelin has sold more records than just about any rock band . If kids havent heard of LP because they didnt see them on a video game ! then i fail to see how they are even rock fans Quote

I don't thing Jimmy Page would be too amused about it either, do you? Why wouldn't Jimmy Page be amused? He has kids. For all we know they might be jamming to Aerosmith as we speak. Rock Band/Guitar Hero seem like good, clean family entertainment to me. I'm waiting for my daughter to buy it (with her own money)......we've already done the Dance, Dance Revolution thing, now it's time for a rock band in our home! Let's start with Good Times, Bad Times. Quote
Angel With A Broken Wing Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Re-posting on this thread to share this link with y'all. It's Rush playing Rock Band to their own "Tom Sawyer"......and not too well, they only score 31%. Rush on Rock Band Quote
Sugarplum Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I'm not sure about some kids.. but I know that in my case, when I was younger, I used to lie down on my bed at night, turn down the lights, slip my headphones on, and become engulfed a world of music. It was a way for me to escape to another place. It was an adventure, and was my rock when everything else seemed unstable. Can you imagine the first time I heard Zeppelin? It changed my life, and still does to this day. It's an absolutely magical experience when I listen to their music, and it saddens me to imagine kids being turned on to bands by way of Guitar Hero, etc. I guess I like to think that the members of Zeppelin imagined kids at home, listening to their albums, staring up at the stars, dreaming.. being hypnotized and enlightened by the music.. But that's just me. Quote
Sugarplum Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 (edited) ^^And I of course don't mean that Zeppelin shouldn't be enjoyed by friends in a party atmosphere.. I guess I just think that: 1) If you want to jam out to Zep, you should try learning to play a real guitar (or any instrument you prefer). I think it would be much more rewarding in the long run, and would feel 100000000000000000 times better once you've conquered a song. 2) If you don't want to learn to play an instrument, you can still rock out and listen to the original albums with your friends. But in my opinion, if you want to pretend like you're playing a guitar, why not try to play a real one? I mean if you want to be a 'rockstar', then why pretend? It just sort of seems like a waste of time to me.. Sorry if I'm being Ms. Debbie Downer. It's just how I feel. Edited July 30, 2008 by Sugarplum Quote
the queen without a king Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 While it may be true that they don't need the money/exposure/whatever else, I don't see why not. In the last few years we've seen Zeppelin become more lax with their music (Soundtracks, commercials Itunes etc....) I don't see why this is any different. Quote
MisterMcLov1n Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 (edited) Led Zeppelin has always been about the music, and games are for little boy's, so I would have to agree with the above poster 'slagfarmer' and say "NO" to the use of their music in a game. I don't thing Jimmy Page would be too amused about it either, do you? Jimmy- or rather- Jimmy's management has commented on this. They said Led Zeppelin haven't been in Guitar Hero or Rock Band because the band themselves are uncomfortable with giving the master recordings to "strangers." And WOW on that comment about games for little boys. You've obviously never played a game like Grand Theft Auto, or ever played a video game in your life. On topic: I'd rather have Led Zeppelin appear in Rock Band than Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero is nothing but a fad and is not about the music. Rock Band offers close to 500 downloadable songs ($2 a song). They have artists three-song packs, singles and even full albums. I would love to see Presence as an album download. Another quick edit: I would not be posting on this forum if it weren't for music/rhythm-based video games. They opened me up to a whole new world of music and I cannot thank the makers of these games enough. There are kids I know that now listen to rock exclusively because of these games. I would love to see Led Zeppelin be a part of this revival in appreciation for rock music. and heres a nother bit of info... gh4 is going to include drums and vocals with a better drum set.. google it Rock Band ION Electronic drumset (doubles as a game controller AND real electronic drumkit!): Guitar Hero: World Tour's drum controller does not convert into a real electronic drumkit, however, includes a "drum brain," which allows you to plug in a MIDI or electronic drumkit into the game console Edited July 31, 2008 by MisterMcLov1n Quote

rosiegirl Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I have never played any of those games, but I have heard of them and my kids have played them. My son asked me why Led Zeppelin is not involved in all this, and I have thought about it, in my opinion anything that would expose young people to them can't be bad. I would love everyone to know and appreciate Led Zeppelin as much as I do. But I also understand that they do not want to be commercialized spelling? like so many other bands. If they were to do this they would have to have an entire game devoted to them after all they are the greastest rock band in history, and how can anyone choose just a couple Led Zeppelin songs, that's impossible. I do want everyone to know and love our boys as much as I do, and I feel this is a good way to get that done. Well that's just my opinion. Quote
mightyzep247 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I think in someways it may be good (getting Zeppelin out to younger crowds) but in some ways its not. It sort of makes people ignorant about that music. For example, I was watching a video of Cheap Trick playing Dream Police live on YouTube and someone posted a comment saying which ones Joe Perry just because That song is on Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. So I don't know. I just had to mention that I'm proud of myself because I'm 13 and I'm one of the only people my age that I know who liked Classic Rock before Guitar Hero. Just Pointing that out. haha Quote
