Rock fashion: now and then

Recommended Posts

I know that Granny Takes A Trip was one of the main shops where musicians would get clothes from, but I'm pretty sure it was another place. Need to go re-read that part!

You're right- Granny was a shop that Eric Clapton also bought a lot of his clothes from in his Cream days; it was popular with that whole Yardbirds-Beck-Clapton triangle so Jimmy definitely must have been caught up in it somewhere, too!

I think the proof is in the pictures- yikes! Same red color trousers as Jimmy's, too. I"m guessing, probably same hair stylist?

Right on- we can hire the same guy who broke into Jimmy's house in the 80s and stole all of Jimmy's concert sound-board and video tapes! He was a real pro. Where is that bastard these days? Probably still selling his stolen goods in Japan, in the same store Jimmy's standing in with the white scarf... B)

He didn't break in - he was a invited guest, as was his partner in crime.

I just totally love the way Led Zeppelin dresses; esspecially Robert :wub:He looks that absolutely georgous while wearing next to nothing on the top ....and the hair on his chest aren´t a problem; I mean, he´s Robert! But it seems like there are a few bands who also are some kind of good-dressed: Just look at The Hives. They are always wearing suits. But reaching that summits of style Led Zeppelin reached is impossible. :P

Someone here said that Jimmy is colourblind. might be...most people say pink and red don't match

But noone told Jimmy and he doesn't bother and...looks great.

Hey, Jimmy's hand's in a bandage! That explains the Beatles button. Pain killers will make you do crazy things... remember he seemed irritated at being compared to the Beatles in an early 70s interview? (3dvd set, bearded look, on the couch...)

No matter, 'cause I ain't looking at the button that much anyway... did Jimmy or Robert EVER wear underpants?? :D

You're correct, but Jimmy didn't invite him/them into his house to steal from him unless these guys pulled a Rutles and walked out the door with Jimmy's goods in hand while being interviewed?! ;)

Wasn't there a chick involved? It's really sad when someone opens their home to guests and gets ripped off.....pathetic.

In case anyone hasn't figured it out yet, I'm a Jimmy fanatic :) Lest I highjack this thread and turn it into the 'Hot pics of Jimmy' thread, I've always looooved this pic of Robert. Only Robert could pull off the girls jeans and shirt look, he certainly was a Golden God and this pic expemplifies that for me!!

For my friends and me, this pic was the epitome of 70's rockers and rock fashion. Looking at it now, reminds me of why we pursued them in the shameless manner that we did. :bagoverhead:

Not a good look for Bonzo in this pic...he looks like a used car salesman

Me, too, but that doesn't stop me from poking a little fun at him. I always thought he had the best and quirkiest sense of humor out of them all. Except I didn't get that joke he cracked at the R&R Hall of Fame Induction about labor pains, did you? Men. How would HE know?? <_<:D

ps- there might have been a woman involved in the burglary, it sounds familiar, and no doubt she was upstairs while those scumbuckets were downstairs.

pps-Medhb, with what little friends I do have, please don't go to the Fashion Poll and read my response about Dorian Gray!! I hope I'm not too late.... :bagoverhead:

No you're definitely not - I only wish I could have spent a little more time doing it :hysterical:

I'm quite envious of you ladies...I was stuck in the middle of a Michigan cornfield during all those great times! <_<

Didn't Jimmy & Robert make their rounds to Eastern Europe in the late 90s? Don't feel bad...Zeppelin made it to the East Coast plenty of times, but by the time I was finally old enough to go to their concerts, Bonzo died three weeks before the scheduled shows in Largo, MD. Needless to say, there were a lot of depressed 15 year olds in September, 1980! Had their pics on my walls for years and years, missed 'em by 3 weeks, and I'm still not over it. It's like seeing your pet dog get run over before your very eyes. You never forget it... :(
