croquet'n'cocaine
In an interview in the Radio Times (popular UK TV listings magazine) this week, Bjorn from ABBA talks about the new film of the ABBA musical, Mamma Mia! He is asked whether ABBA will reform: I ask if ABBA might ever re-form, but I already know the answer. "No," he declares. He tells me he had lunch the day before with the promoter for Led Zeppelin. "He told me they won't tour. He had a very good expression – he said they would be a cover band." I laugh. "You could be your own tribute band." Björn nods. "Mamma Mia! has placed the past in a wonderful place for everyone. I think that's where it should remain. You shouldn't shatter that." Of course, Zep would only be a "cover band" if they went out and played the old stuff over and over. If they come out with new music as well then Robert Plant might be inspired, and they'd overcome the dreaded Rolling Stones treadmill thing. I think that new music is critical to any future Led Zeppelin reunions.
