Pres. Bush's Resignation Speech

The speech George W. Bush might give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying 'My Fellow Americans.' Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.

I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: There's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people. I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that's despite record numbers of homeowners, including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we're mentioning minorities, I'll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton administration. I've mentioned all those things before, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this 'blood for oil' thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq 's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied; People Died' crap either. If I were the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ' Clinton ' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you? Now some of you morons are considering another and more evil Clinton for president !!!! Go figure that one!! She wants to take your kids away and let the ' Whole Village ' raise them! i.e. governmental indoctrination .. Look this one up you dumb asses!

The rest of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan , a nucular ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he's going to destroy us. While he's doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to reelect him. He also thinks it's okay for Iran to have nucular weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel . Did you sleep through high school?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to out spend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor.'

Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well FedEx a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times, USA Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with Stars.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient for years. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that's it. God bless what's left of America .

Some of you know what I mean. The rest of you, kiss off.

PS - You might want to start learning Farsi, and buy a Koran.

Even if I might agree with a point or two, or realize that the failure to eradicate Osama Bin Laden has been glossed over...I also realize W is not possesed of enough intelligence to write a......well, any speech.

I am sure you must feel better getting that off your chest eh'? B)

There's no win with you guys.

If he's not caught, it's "you couldn't catch him!"

If he's caught, it's "he's of no consequence now."

give it a rest.

and the whole "Bush is dumb" shit ran dry long ago.

He's got more education than most of the hollywood hypocrites who make that claim against him combined.

Just the fact you're dutifully mouthing the worn catchphrases speaks volumes about how much you actually pay attention.

Just because he has a college degree doesn't mean he's done or said intelligent things. The Bushes were basically the WASP Kennedys so the fact that an Ivy League university graduated him doesn't mean much, really. How much of that degree was "earned" and how much was handed to him because he came from a wealthy and privileged family? So using that as a defense is pretty weak. I mean, Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar and he did some pretty stupid shit in the White House.

Very amusing, cryingbluerain. On second thought, just plain sad.

Type O, totally disagree with you. The "stupidity" never runs dry. It's just sad, again.

Electrophile is right, college education doesn't equal intelligence. For christ's sake, this dude can't speak, and never could. If we stopped listening it's because we can't stand to anymore.

Is it almost over?

Cry me a river...somone disagrees with your views so you begin lumping people into categories.

My opinion is derived of watching the person, not the politician...the politician has a bevy of heads doing his thinking for him.

GWB with nothing but his own faculties to fall back on has shown himself to be most unimpressive, but then again the greatest minds of this, or any other generation usually steer clear of office. B)

Ain't that the truth...TV wars with surrender ceremonies.

Thank you President Bush for your excellent service and please excuse the ignorance of those who do not support you.

You lump yourself when you jump on a bandwagon.

I remember very similar remarks about that Reagan guy, too.

When all the fog of current political assassination has long faded, and the 20/20 vision of hindsight is brought to focus on this administration, history will support what those of us who aren't deluded by the media's onslaught of spin and agenda have maintained all along:

GWB has done a great job leading the nation through what was easily the most dangerous period of history since the civil war. In ways it was worse than the civil war because he had to steer the country while defending against attacks from within as the liberal movement placed the sour grapes of the 2000 election ahead of the best interests of the country and fought his every move, even when said moves were actually in line with positions they previously held. Yeah, even when Bush actually changed his position on certain issues, the liberal movement chose to "stay their own course" of remaining opposed to him by changing their own position rather than being satisfied that he had made a change.

And despite all that bullshit he still managed to turn the economy around, and help get us back on track.

He' certainly not the greatest president ever, but he's nowhere near the worst - Carter is sealing the deal on that one by not only sucking as President, but being one of the worst ex-Presidents EVER, to the point of being borderline treasonous.

Bush will easily be rated in the top 25% of Presidents when the smoke clears.

Because he did what was necessary, and best for the country, despite very powerful and influential opinions and forces that opposed him. No president has faced a more diametrically opposed media machine than Bush.

He did these things regardless of his personal loss of "approval rating" and current perception.

My biggest problem with him is that he hasn't done something along the lines of the OP, that he hasn't directly called out, Clinton fist-banging style, those who distort the facts so completely. And that he bowed to media pressure and tried to fight the war in PC fashion. I won't believe "no WMDs" until every basement of every mosque from Basrah to Tikrit had the doors kicked in and completely searched. But no, we couldn't be seen as being too aggressive. The surge that is working so well right now is simply a watered-down version of the overwhelming assault we should have applied from the beginning. If the media and attention-seeking liberal Dems had just been on-board despite their personal agendas, for the sake of the country, the war could have been finished and many American soldiers' lives spared. But the constant division at home help fuel the resolve of the enemy, and created an opening for another enemy to become involved as well. If there had been a unified intent from our country at all times, as with wars past, there would have been little to encourage Iran to get involved.

But hey, "Bush is DUM" is so much easier to get a snicker and popular response from around the watercooler.

He should resign right now.

Becasue Dick Chenny would be president.

Fucking A.

Then the present regime could go out with a bang, to the face!

Coincidental to the Supreme Court ruling, hand in handgun.

Cheap shotgun sorry.

I agree. There hasn't been a dumber president. The mute button gets pushed every time he speaks, in this living room. It's embarassing. I know an 85 year old WW2 vet who told me in all his years he has never disliked a president more. You guys who still support this guy just kiil me. Bush, Cheney, the whole gang has treated us like a bunch of fucking idiots who don't know any better. The worst part is that so many people fell for it. Whoever comes next will be doing nothing but damage control. Their utter disregard for us, but mostly for our troops is just astonishing.

There's a recipe for staying informed.

Don't bother actually listening and then go along with what everyone else says.

"Hey, I heard Obama is really a muslim! Did you know his middle name was Hussein???"

I already know you'll take this the wrong way, your sarcasm detector is non-existent.

Like anybody knows the real score anyway.

Spin from the politicians, spin from the media, spin from the water cooler......

Actions tell the real story, and you can't blame the direction this country has taken on the one democratic president we've had in the last 27 years. Business and finance ruled by the Repubs, media and the environment by the Democrats.....which speaks louder? I think it's the almighty dollar which is at presently at an all time low in the world market.

Yes, wonderful job with the economy.

Wrong. If I want to be informed, he is about the LAST person I want to listen to. I did for a year or two, then I couldn't. I read the paper and watch the news and talk tp people and listen to people. Coherent people, that is, which he is not.

Nixon

Ford

Carter

Reagan

Bush Sr

Clinton

As an American citizen I feel it's it's necessary to listen to your President. Whether I agreed with the things said by these past Presidents. I at least took the time to pay attention.

I can't even look at "W".

You must not have been around in the 70s, during the Carter years' double-digit inflation.

So many people try to talk down our present economy and how "bad' it is, but it's actually a miracle after what we've been through, and compared to the Carter economy.

Everyone's whining about the housing market, but there's 2 sides to everything when it comes to economics. Right now is an incredible time for people looking to buy a home.

When it's the other way around, all we hear is "housing is skyrocketing, no one can afford to buy!"

Any dip in the housing market is only temporary, homes always increase in value long-term. Which is why the media is shrieking so loudly now, they know it won't last so they have to squeeze it for all it's worth while it's a hot topic.

Who said that's what she does? Does not listening to George Bush speak somehow now equal thinking Barack Obama is a Muslim or something equally as stupid? No, it doesn't.

You can't stay informed, up-to-date and just as knowledgeable on what's going on in this country even if you DON'T listen to Curious George. You make it sound like if you don't listen to the President, you don't listen to anything. Which is abject lies.

I was growing up during that time, but while you can say some of Carters missteps resulted in the gas crunch at the end of the decade, pinning the decade long rise in inflation on a one term president is erroneous.

Inflation in the 70's kept rising (beyond the 70's as well) because the savings and loan industry went unchecked, and now it's happened all over again. Nothing makes an administration look better than when citizens can get what they want. and feel like they're living the dream....then the rug gets pulled out from underneath because the other shoe had to drop. Now we're back in the Reagan years..."It's a buyers market!!"

Just try to get a loan. B)

I do agree with you though, it won't stay like this forever.

Does no one here have the ability to recognize sarcasm/satire/irony?

This forum needs SARCASM tags.

It's a simple point - if you admit you never listen to what Bush says, then how can you have an opinion on it unless you're relying on what others have said about it?

Then I used an obvious example of that type of mindset to illustrate the idiocy of such remarks.

That's why I put it in quotes - it was an example.

Funny how touchy folks get when you apply the rhetoric back at them.

Everyone's just fine with making insults and assumptions about Bush, even when they admit they don't actually listen to what he says. But when the same thing is done to Obama, OMG!!!!!

The Obama=muslim nonsense is but a single instance of the type of bullshit the left/media have been blasting Bush with for his entire terms.

I heard the same thing about Bill O'Reilly - some clown spouting about what a nazi O'Reilly is, and when they asked him what exactly he said, which show, he replied "I never watch or listen to him."

WTF?

Somebody should write a speech when pres. obama has to admit that he does not know jack shit and had to explain why Israel is a plate of glass, and terrorism is a daily occurrence in America. Why gas is 7$ a gallon and a abortion is a daily practice at high school.

But at least he can give a better speech than bush, right. Anybody who turns off the TV when the president has something important to say is just a plain fucking idiot with no clue. Thats why America is fucked, it's because it's people are fucked.

Maybe when the president come on TV and says, "We as a nation must lift ourselves up from this mess and carry on", we should try to make this country better, and not bitch, and because calling somebody stupid, is alot easier than trying to make something better.

A bunch of whining bitches America has become. Maybe Bill Clinton should give a speech and explain why he allowed Osama to run around, why he vetoed a drilling bill and allowed the speculators to play the gas game like it's black jack.

People are sheep and when you talk dumb to them, they dumb down..for a while. Bush's best tactic as President has been dumb politics, saying very little about everything. His vocabulary border lines a 5yo with a lisp. The American People (who actually view his Presidency as one of the biggest failed opportunities in US History) have come to want someone who actually connects with them when he/she gives a speech about an important issue. Whether that be Obama or McCain or whoever, 8 years of kiddie talk from a guy who borderline could visually pass as the missing link has given many in this country inspiration to choose a leader that will take them in a new direction. Better? Who can say. Gas prices will be high no matter who wins. McCain's plan for oil, while be it harmful to the environment which I'm against, is actually more economically pheasable than Obama's. The Iraq War? We will be over there longer than 4 years so throwing Obama under the train for that is alittle foolish, even if he says it can be done, which might be equally foolish.

And all this talk about blame Bush for everything is stupid. It's OUR foreign policy that is to blame for much of our current headaches. Our foreign policy that creates enemies in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. Our foreign policies that dump a shaky allie when the tide changes and wonder why he wants to blow us up a decade later. Our foreign policies that continue to undermine what "America" is promised to be to the world, a peace keeper. We create the chaos, sometimes inadvertantly, and than fail to grasp that we as a democracy in a world that is Googlized can not continue to expect success on our present course. That's to blame alot of people, Democrats and Republicans. Presidents Truman through W. They've all had a piece of the pie and thrown it at the wall. What makes these last 8 years so much more dramatic is our global society is so technologically sound and connected, we expect ourselves to be able to find a fast and easy way out of things..which is not going to be the case with our blood-stained hands around the world.

I personally LOVE to listen to George speak, laughter is the best medicine.

It really doesn't matter who is voted into office next because it's going to take more than 2 terms to resteer the off course path George and his cronies have put us on. ANY change will be good change. For God's sake put a Monkey in office! At least it would have a 50/50 chance of making a correct decision.....
