Jimmy and the Black Crowes

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere Chris Robinson said he respected Jimmy Page as a musician but not as a man or something to that effect. I know everyone around here is about facts but I do not remember exactly where I read it. I remember it because I was shocked and taken back by such a ugly remark.

I (vaguely) remember that too -- he disparagingly called Jimmy a "corporate guy"; Robinson was disappointed that Pagey had good relationships with the record biz powers-that-be.

P.S. Thanks to Zep_Head for the video!

It has been rumored but that doesn't make it true, which I think is what you are really asking. Frankly, and without getting into why, I'd be disappointed if he ever played with them again, particularly this week.

Oh well...quess Jimmy doesn't feel the same way about Chris and the boys.

luvlz2, I feel your pain -- damned if I didn't havesome GREAT seats lined up for the Page/Crowes show at the Joint. Front row, seats 1, 2 and 3!!!!!!

Booked a room at the Hard Rock, planned a week-long vacation around the concert. Didn't find out that the freaking show had been cancelled until shortly AFTER arriving in Vegas that afternoon. Oh, the agony of defeat!!!

I'm still pissed about that 11 years later!!!

(*Scans of my UNUSED tickets attached to this post, if anybody wants a looky-loo. Damned painful for me to even look at, even now.)

Wow man, that must hurt. Fortunately for me I didnt get the chance to buy tickets for the show down here only to be let down later.

But not long after I heard they where coming a co-worker told me the tour had been canceled due to Pages back injury. The way she described what happened was that it was rather serious to. Ive wondered if in fact its a big reason why he hasnt toured much since then.

Yeah SinceIveBeenLovingU, it still bugs me too, I've been very very slowly getting over it. Seeing him would help. I hope the opportunity comes...

Superstatic, yes the back injury must have been a pretty bad one -- Jimmy would not have canceled the remainder of the Crowes tour, which so much $$$ was riding on, if it were not quite serious.

When the Vegas show was canceled, I was able to file a claim with Lloyd's of London, who insured the tour, for a refund of the tickets. So imagine that many refunds times how many pre-sales in each city that was canceled? Lloyd's had to pay a small fortune in claims.

I would have thought, the refund would have been issued by Ticketmaster and not having to go through LOL. Was that by choice and if so why?

Could you possibly rescan (or photograph) and repost them individually without cutting them off at all? Is that a mailing label on the first one, meaning that add was published on the back cover?

Did you get the photos?

PhoenixCancelled-1.jpg Not the best shape but should be croppable. Sorry about leaving the date stamp, but it wasn't my camera and it had to be done quickly at work. I posted a link on you profile page about a week ago, but just in case here you go....luvlz2

I keep looking for a "thanks" in there somewhere but can't seem to find one.

I'm sure he has been let down before by boardmembers promising photos/materials of interest. There's no reason to say thanks for something he hasn't recieved(or may not recieve) or if he also gets something that is unusable either. I am glad if I can help somebody with stuff like that. He was patient and nice with me about it, and he did say thanks...

I am glad you posted the entire image. Just slightly off topic, was that the last tour of the Who before Entwistle's death?

According to Wikipedia, there was a UK tour November 2000 that ended on November 27th at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer trust. They also played 'The Concert For New York City October 20th, 2001. The Who played five shows in England in 2002, in Portsmouth January 27 and 28th, Watford on January 31 in preparation for two shows for the Teenage Cancer Trust Benefit at the Albert Hall Febuary 7 and 8th. These were Entwistle's last shows with The Who. On June 27 just before their US tour was to due to commence, Entwistle was found dead at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. I've included a photo that my friend took of The Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas.
