Is there any reason why your internet is so slow?

I don't know about Adelaide but here in Sydney it's quite fast.

Dial-up is the slowest, always has been.

ADSL+ Broadband has fast access, however, downloads can take a long time depending on what it is and how many people are downloading.

Movie downloads etc can take hours, that's why I don't bother and besides it's illlegal, right?

Speed is a relative term. Compared to the US/Europe, our fastest internet is slow.

It may be slow compared to the northern hemisphere, but I suppose it's better than nothing.

I work in the telecommunications industry and very soon there will be a big rollout of

optical fibre to the node (from exchanges to the home), which will greatly improve the speed of the internet.

Hopefully enough to rival or even better the northerners.
