Dial-up is the slowest, always has been. ADSL+ Broadband has fast access, however, downloads can take a long time depending on what it is and how many people are downloading. It may be slow compared to the northern hemisphere, but I suppose it's better than nothing. I work in the telecommunications industry and very soon there will be a big rollout of optical fibre to the node (from exchanges to the home), which will greatly improve the speed of the internet.
