ZeppFanForever
I have both KNEBWORTH shows from 4 August 1979 and 11 August 1979 on DVD. I hve seen them both numerous times and can even tell both shows apart from each other. I would like to ask all of my fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics "Why do you think that ZEPPELIN wore the same outfits for both shows?" ROCK ON! On the face of it, it may seem unusual, however it's actually not, when you consider that on previous tours, they tended to wear the same clothes on most nights anyway. I suppose they put some thought into what image they wanted to present, after a long absence, and went with what they wore. They had no reason to change wardrobe between the 4/9 and 11/8 shows and so they didn't.

Let me also add that maybe the band felt that in case of a release of this show, the band would choose the best songs from both of these shows and make a suitable KNEBWORTH concert for release at a later date in the future. What do you think? ROCK ON!

What do you think? ROCK ON! I did consider that maybe the were planning to release it, but I think that's unlikely. We all know that JPJ refused to wear the same shirt for the MSG 73 shows, creating continuity issues in TSRTS film. I don't think they were intending to release Knebworth, because there was no outlet for it. It is shot on video so another cinema release was not on the cards. Zeppelin hardly ever did TV, so I don't think that was an option. Home video was in its infancy in '79. I think it's more likely that they just chose an outfit and wore it on both nights, no other reason.

Its just too bad because ZEPPELIN had some of their greatest moments ever in their whole career during both of these performances. ROCK ON! Maybe one day we will be lucky enough to have an officially released version of Knebworth. Until then bootlegs will have to do.

I think you've seen the best of it on the Led Zeppelin DVD. Most of that is from the first show, the second being an abysmal performance.

Achilles Last Stand
Sorry for the bump, but I work in a theatre and when they have shows that stay for a few nights, the whole cast and crew try and do exactly the same thing every time, because the audience are entitled to see the performance the same as everyone else would see it. Either that or they were deliberately trying to piss off bootleggers from telling the two shows apart lol.

You do have a very good point "Achilles Last Stand," thanks for sharing that point with us. ROCK ON!
