Songs that make you think of Jimmy

Great memory "IluvJimmyPage," I also have a memory of some kind while in Drivers Training in High School. My best friend Tod and I were in the same school driver car along with our teacher and we were listening to "Rock Show" on the radio. It was raining hard that day and I could barely see where I was going and as I was making a left turn, I made the turn too wide resulting in me hitting a telephone poll. WHAT IS IT WITH ME AND TELEPHONE POLLS? After that, I got kicked out of class and had to take the class over again the following semester which I passed. Y-E-A-H!

When I think of Pagey in a song, in my opinion, I can only think of one song that pretty much sums Jimmy up. That song, the 1986 classic "Wanted Dead Or Alive" by BON JOVI. Music & Lyrics by Jon Bon Jovi & Ritchie Sambora. The lyrics go like this word for word:

In my opinion, that song pretty much sums up Jimmy Page. ROCK ON!

Your story is too funny - I definitely needed a laugh today :)

Yeah "Wanted Dead or Alive", that's a great song to think of Jimmy about. So many good ones on here!

Thanks "IluvJimmyPage," it makes me feel great when I can put a smile on someone's face such as yourself. Now I expect for you to have a great day today especially since today is F-R-I-D-A-Y!!!! I know that I am since I got home early today from work. I now have the whole weekend off but I have to go back to work on Monday which is the 29th year anniversary of ZEPPELIN'S comeback performance at KNEBWORTH on 4 August 1979. I couldn't get Monday off, but I am definitely getting Tuesday off since I am taking the 4 August 1979 performance of KNEBWORTH on DVD to my friends bar which is Bicycle Club on Monday night and he is going to show the whole concert on three of his big screens. I know that I will not be in any condition to go in to work on Tuesday (5 August 2008) so I took Tuesday off to recuperate. I'm doing the same thing for the KNEBWORTH 11 August 1979 performance but I'll be showing that DVD at another friend's bar which is Stacy's Sports Bar. I'll be taking Tuesday off on 12 August 2008 to recuperate as well. Think of this coming weekend like all of the other weekend's as a weekend to celebrate Rock n' Roll. In the mean time, ROCK ON!

Oh my goodness, when I saw this post about Venus and Mars/Rock Show I remembered back to something I did in high school and I started to crack up! We were in driver ed behind the wheel training and this song happened to come on the radio (I'm not sure exactly why we were even able to have the radio on at that time anyway! :)) Well, it was my turn next to get behind the wheel, so we pulled the car over just as it was getting close to the part about Jimmy. I jumped out of my seat and was rushing the other girl out of the drivers seat, because I wanted to be driving the car when that part of the song came on (which of course I was :bagoverhead:) One of the girls in the back who knew I was a Zeppelin & Pagey nut at that time was of course giggling about it

 That's a great story about your driver's ed class! I hate to say it, ILJP, and I didn't think it was possible, but I think that, as far as a youthful obsession with Pagey, you might have had it worse than I did.

Whenever I hear this song, or even on omy own.... I enjoy putting "Jimmy" in place of "Mickey"

Toni Basil -- "Mickey"

(Written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman)

Oh Mickey, you're so fine,

You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!

Oh Mickey, you're so fine,

You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!

Oh Mickey, you're so fine,

You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!

Hey Mickey!

You been around all night, And that's a little long

You think you got the right, but I think you got it wrong

Oh, can't you say "Good night"

So you can take me home, Mickey.

Cuz when you say you will, it always mean you won't

You're giving me the chills, baby, please, baby don't

Every night you spend the evening all alone, Mickey

Oh, Mickey what a pity you don't understand

You take me by the heart, when you take me by the hand

Oh, Mickey you're so pretty, can't you understand

It's guys like you, Mickey

Oh, what'cha do Mickey, do Mickey,

Don't break my heart Mickey

Hey Mickey

Now when you take by the ooooh

Everyone gonna know

Every time you move, a little rhythm gonna show

There's something you can use,

So don't say no Mickey

So, come on and give it to me any way you can

Any way you wanna do it I'll treat you like a man

Oh, please baby please

Don't leave me in a jam Mickey

Oh Mickey, you're so fine,

You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!

Oh Mickey, you're so fine,

You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!

Oh Mickey, you're so fine,

You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey!

--------------------------------------------------------------

How I imagine a female fan of Jimmy might sing this:

Oh Jimmy, you're so fine,

You're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Jimmy! Hey Jimmy!

Oh Jimmy, you're sweet, tasty good, and fine to eat ! B)

I haven't thought of that song in years but it's a good choice.

Another song, this one by Lynyrd Skynyrd: What's your name?

What's your name, little girl?

What's your name?

I love that song. That does make me think of Jimmy actually. I wish I was that girl if it was Jimmy.

Some passages of this song makes me think of Jimmy :)

Juke box hero - Foreigner

Standing in the rain, with his head hung low

Couldn't get a ticket, it was a sold out show

Heard the roar of the crowd, he could picture the scene

Put his ear to the wall, then like a distant scream

He heard one guitar, just blew him away

Saw stars in his eyes, and the very next day

Bought a beat up six string in a secondhand store

Didn't know how to play it, but he knew for sure

That one guitar, felt good in his hands

Didn't take long, to understand

Just one guitar, slung way down low Was a one way ticket, only one way to go

So he started rockin' ain't never gonna stop

Gotta keep on rockin'

Someday gonna make it to the top

And be a JUKE BOX HERO got stars in his eyes

He's a JUKE BOX HERO

He took one guitar JUKE BOX HERO

stars in his eyes

JUKE BOX HERO he'll come alive tonight

In a town without a name, in a heavy downpour

Thought he passed his own shadow, by the backstage door

Like a trip through the past, to that day in the rain

And that one guitar made his whole life change

Now he needs to keep rockin' he just can't stop

Gotta keep on rockin' that boy has got to stay on top

And be a JUKE BOX HERO got stars in his eyes

He's a JUKE BOX HERO got stars in his eyes

Yeah JUKE BOX HERO stars in his eyes

WITH THAT ONE GUITAR he'll come alive

Come alive tonight

Yeah, He's gotta keep a rockin'

He just can't stop

Gotta keep on Rockin'

That Boy has got to be on top

And be a JUKE BOX HERO got stars in his eyes

He's a JUKE BOX HERO got stars in his eyes

With just one guitar

JUKE BOX HERO with stars in his eyes

C'mon he's just a JUKE BOX HERO

JUKE BOX HERO

JUKE BOX HERO

He's got stars in his eyes

Stars in his eyes

I love that song too! But then the guy in the song says, "What was your name, little girl?" - he doesn't even remember her. :(

After Freebird, it's probably my favorite Skynard song.

I have always thought of Jimmy when I have heard the songs "Magic Man" and "Feel Like Making Love" as people had mentioned above. Here is another song that I would always daydream about Pagey when I heard it (and still do ) ...

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Still.... You Turn Me On

Do you wanna be an angel

Do you wanna be a star

Do you wanna play some magic

On my guitar

Do you wanna be a poet

Do you wanna be my string

You could be anything

Do you wanna be the lover of another undercover

You could even be the

Man on the moon

Do you wanna be the player

Do you wanna be the string

Let me tell you something

It just don't mean a thing

You see it really doesn't matter

When you're buried in disguise

By the dark glass on your eyes

Though your flesh has crystallised

Still...you turn me on

Still...you turn me on, yeah

Mmmm...you turn me on

Do you wanna be the pillow

Where I lay my head

Do you wanna be the feathers

Lying on my bed

Do you wanna be the cover

Of a magazine

Create a scene

Every day a little sadder

A little madder

Someone get me a ladder

Do you wanna be the singer

Do you wanna be the song

Let me tell you something

You just couldn't be more wrong

You see I really have to tell you

That it all gets so intense

From my experience

It just doesn't seem to make sense

Still...you turn me on

Mmmm...you turn me on, yeah

Mmmm...you turn me on

Beastie Boys - The New Style.

It's been mentioned on another thread for the Jimmy reference, but I've just discovered this song, and freaking LOVE it.

Beastie Boys - The New Style

Four and three and two and one What up!

And when I'm on the mic - the suckers run (Word!)

Down with Adrock and Mike D. and you ain't

And I got more juice than Picasso got paint

Got rhymes that are rough and rhymes that are slick

I'm not surprised you're on my dick

B-E-A-S-T-I-E, what up Mike D.

Ah yeah, that's me

I got franks and pork and beans

Always bust the new routines

I get it - I got it, I know it's good

The rhymes I write - you wish you would I'm never in training - my voice is not straining

People always biting and I'm sick of complaining

So I went into the locker room during classes

Bust into your locker and I smashed your glasses

You're from Secausus - I'm from Manhattan

You're jealous of me because your girlfriend is cattin'

There it is - kick it!!!

Father to many - married to none

And in case you're unaware I carry a gun

Stepped into the party - the place was over packed

Saw the kid that dissed my homey and shot him in the back

I had to get a beeper 'cause my phone is tapped

You better keep your mouth shut 'cause I'm fully strapped

I got money in the bank - I can still get high

That's why your girlfriend thinks that I'm so fly

I've got money and juice - twin sisters in my bed

Their father had envy so I shot him in the head

If I played guitar I'd be Jimmy Page

The girlie's I like are underage Check it!

Girls with boyfriends are the kind I like

I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike

Your father - he's jealous 'cause I'm making that green

I've got the girlie's numbers from the places I been

There it is - kick it!!!

You wanna know why - because I'm

October 31st - that is my date of birth

I got to the party and I did the Smurf

Taxing all females from coast to coast

And when I get my fill I'm chilly most

We rag-tag girlies back at the hotel

And then we all switch places when I ring the bell

I chill at White Castle 'cause it's the best

But I'm fly at Fat Burger when I way out west

K-I-N-G-A-D whammy

All the fly ladies are on my jammy

Went to the prom - wore the fly blue rental

Got six girlies in my Lincoln Continental

Met this girl at the party and she started to flirt

I told her some rhymes and she pulled up her skirt

Spent some bank - I got a high powered jumbo

Rolled up a wooly and I watched Colombo

Let me clear my throat - Kick it over here baby pop

And let all the fly skimmies, feel the beat...mmm drop

Coolin' on the corner on a hot summers day

Just me, my posse and M.C.A.

A lot of beer - a lot of girls - and a lot of cursing

Twenty-two automatic on my person

Got my hand in my pocket and my finger's on the trigger

My posse's gettin' big - and my posse's gettin' bigger

Some voices got treble - some voices got bass

We got the kind of voices that are in your face

Like the bun to the burger - like the burger to the bun

Like the cherry to the apple - to the peach to the plum

I'm the king of the Ave. - and I'm the king of the block

I'm M.C.A. - and I'm the King Adrock

I'm Mike D. - I got all the fly juice

On the checkin' at the party on the forty deuce

Walking down the block with the fresh fly threads

Beastie Boys fly the biggest heads

God, I love this song...

Ditto. Always have.

Back on track:

I had completely forgotten about this song until I told a friend about this thread. She reminded me that she constantly played it, in honor of Zep, when it was released and that, with apologies to Billy Joel, we changed the lyrics to suit Zep:

I've Loved These Days Lyrics

(By BILLY JOEL)

Now we take our time, so nonchalant,

And spend our nights so bon vivant.

We dress our days in silken robes,

The money comes, the money goes,

We know it's all a passing phase.

We light our lamps for atmosphere,

And hang ourselves on chandeliers.

We're going wrong, we're gaining weight,

We're sleeping long and far too late.

And so it's time to change our ways...

But I've loved these days.

Now as we indulge in things refined,

We hide our hearts from harder times.

A string of pearls, a foreign car,

Oh, we can only go so far

On caviar and Cabernet.

We drown our doubts in dry champagne,

And soothe our souls with fine cocaine.

I don't know why I even care,

We get so high and get nowhere.

We'll have to change our jaded ways...

But I've loved these days.

So before we end, and then begin,

We'll drink a toast to how it's been-

A few more hours to be complete,

A few more nights on satin sheets,

A few more times that I can say...

I've loved these days.

I don't really like the song, but I love the lyrics. Always reminds me of when I was (and, I'm sure, many more girls) hopelessly in love with him

I Pretend

by Sandy Stewart ft Stevie Nicks

Someone's son, someone's man

Someone's inspiration, someone's friend

I depend on sleep to take me to you once again

And if I don't wake up to see

You standing here in front of me

A dream won't die, a love won't end

'Cause you're forever mine

When I pretend

The faithful listen to your every word

I've followed for years and I've seen and heard

Learned and laughed

Idle nights with melodies and photographs

But if I realize someday

You're unaware, so far away

A dream won't die and a love won't end

'Cause you're forever mine

When I pretend

And when you're old with time's demands

You can be my teacher, I'll be your hands

Play the part

Stop for nothing but to have you hold me

Precious heart

If I accept what cannot be

(Don't stop believing)

No longer count on destiny

A dream won't die, a love won't end

'Cause you're forever mine

When I pretend

You're forever mine

And another Stevie Nicks song, which I ab-so-lute-ly adore

Long Distance Winner (yes, my username on here)

Sunflowers and your face fascinate me

You love only the tallest trees

I come running down the hill

But you're fast, you're the winner

Long distance winner

Not unlike the blue-white fire

You burn brightly in spite of yourself

I bring the water down to you

But you're too hot to touch

You're too hot to touch

You love somebody

Save their soul

Tie them to your Heaven

Erase their Hell

Love the lifestyle

If you feel it

Don't try to change them

You never will

Sunflowers and your face fascinate me

You go into the dusty pink day

I come calling unto you

But you run, you're the winner

Long distance winner

Oh, yeah, you're the winner

Long distance winner, yeah

"Jimmy" from the movie Thoroughly Modern Millie, which Julie Andrews sings.

I love this. It also comes close how I feel so hopelessly in love with him, and moved by him, sometimes to tears and how he always makes me happy:

Jimmy, Oh Jimmy

Silly boy

Gee what a really swell guy.

Jimmy, Oh Jimmy

Oh what joy

He makes your troubles fly.

His glance has fireworks in it.

We kiss my does a whez-bang- flip- flop-

heaven for a minute.

Jimmy, Oh Jimmy

Don't you know

What I can't quite confess.

So coax me, impore me.

I promise you won't bore me.

Oh Jimmy, I might say yes.

Oooo- something fun!

You're So Vain from Carly Simon...

Why? It's about the man with the "scarf that was apricot," screwing all his best friends' wives... AND Carly Simon once said the person she wrote this about has an "E" in his name. (She never said exactly who she wrote it for. She'll take that secret to her grave.) So there ya go! :D

You walked into the party

Like you were walking onto a yacht

Your hat strategically dipped below one eye

Your scarf it was apricot

You had one eye in the mirror

As you watched yourself gavotte

And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner

They'd be your partner, and

You're so vain

You probably think this song is about you

You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?

You had me several years ago

When I was still quite naive

Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair

And that you would never leave

But you gave away the things you loved

And one of them was me

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee

Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain

You probably think this song is about you

You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee

Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain

You probably think this song is about you

You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?

Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga

And your horse naturally won

Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia

To see the total eclipse of the sun

Well, you're where you should be all the time

And when you're not, you're with

Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend

Wife of a close friend, and

You're so vain

You probably think this song is about you

You're so vain

I'll bet you think this song is about you

Don't you? Don't you?

Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie :)

Ziggy played guitar, jammin' good with Weird and Gilly,

The spiders from Mars, he played it left hand

But made it too far

Became the special man, then we were Ziggy's band

Ziggy really sang, screwed up eyes and screwed down hairdo

Like some cat from Japan, he could lick 'em by smiling

He could leave 'em to hang :D

Came on so loaded man, well hung and snow white tan

So where were the spiders while the fly tried th break our balls

Just a beer light to guide us

So we bitched about his fans and should we crush his sweet hands?

Ziggy played for time, jiving us that we was voodoo

The kids was just crass. He was the nazz

With God given ass :D

He took it all too far, but boy could he play guitar

Making love with his ego, Ziggy sucked up into his mind

Like a leper messiah

When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band

Ziggy Played Guitar
