Anarchy2Howard
Does anyone know how to get the tone that Page uses in early Led Zeppelin and The Yardbirds? I'm talking about the tone he uses in "Danmarks Radio" and "Supershow" on the Led Zeppelin DVD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQMUZXNVYuI + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1UyxA7l-tg...feature=related Know what I mean? Can anyone help me? I'm looking for amp settings, pedals, gear, etc.. Thanks.

Evster2012
The key to Jimmy's sound in that era was the Sola Sound (Vox modified by Roger Mayer) Tonebender. Occasionally you can find one on Ebay, but the prices are insane. Fulltone, a maker of hand-wired, vintage replica stompboxes, makes one called the Soulbender. I got one, and it was SCARY! There it was the second I plugged it in! The exact sound of Jimmy's Tele on Dazed and Confused, You Shook Me, etc from the first album. Must add, a lot of it's in your hands and picking (more than you'd think!), but that box will take you a giant step forward if that's the sound you want to recreate. www.fulltone.com/
Anarchy2Howard
Thanks guys.. apparently the Fulltone Soulbender has been discontinued because of "unavailability of decent germanium Transistors". That MKII thing looks good, though. I've also heard of this pedal called a Throbak Stonebender, I've *tried* to get hold of one, but they're pretty rare where I live.. huw
Don't have one myself, but the Stonebender is usually the one to get the thumbs up from guys I know who are mining for both that tone, and subsequent tones from the period where Page was using the Les Paul & Tonebender together, instead of the Telecaster. Evster2012
Thanks guys.. apparently the Fulltone Soulbender has been discontinued because of "unavailability of decent germanium Transistors". Aw man! I just ebayed mine a month ago (needed the funds more than the toys)! There's one on there now: http://instruments.shop.ebay.com/items/Mus...ntsQQ_sacatZ619 21 bids already with two days to go!
Anarchy2Howard
Wow.. alot of people bidding on that one I might have a look at the Stonebender.. they have an Ebay store that ships worldwide (I'm in Australia). If I ever go to England though, that D*A*M MKII is definetely on my list of things to do.. that thing has Page's tone nailed easily.
