cowbell666
Since yesterday was the 29th anniversary of the Knebworth show... and it had been a while since I listened to it, I popped in my disc and listened to the thing all last night, with the volume turned up so loud I'm sure my neighbors are pretty pissed off at me... and I have to say, it was FUCKING AMAZING. What a great show, they were soooooo on! When I woke up this morning I was so pumped, I had to listen to it again... right now i'm on In the Evening, bouncing out of my chair! Agree - finally scored a nice copy of the video with decent audio. What a revelation. Hadn't listened to this recording in many years. Jimmy stole the show. He was much better than I remembered. Wish I'd been there. Flights from NYC to London were too expensive on my retail salary at age 16. Love, Billy

In my opinion, the first night at KNEBWORTH (4 August 1979) may rank as one of ZEPPELIN'S greatest live concerts ever! ROCK ON!

Yeah, I'd definitely rank it at the top. It really proved that they were still going strong, after all those years, and all the ups and downs. It really proved that they were still going strong, after all those years, and all the ups and downs. Ain't that the truth! ZEPPELIN defied all of the odds along with their bad tribulations and fatalities and proved that they can still kick some serious ass! Most bands would have NEVER survived. ROCK ON! Love this show, I have it on DVD and when I got it just sat and watched it and watched it. Although they aren't quite what they were even by 77' standards, it was well rehearsed and the set-list was awesome. and Heartbreaker was great, even w/ a sloppy solo. It's too bad things happened the way they did. too bad for heroin and JohnBonham dying. They should have ushered in the 80's properly in the U.S. I still dream that they, jimmy/bonzo, had cleaned up by then and made more music. It would have been good, they were always ahead of their time! Also, did you see the 8-11 concert? It wasn't anywhere near as good.
