Whole lotta love brings Deborah into the light... An interview with Deborah Bonham:

Thanks for posting this article, Meg (and all the others, too).smile.gif

It shows how much John was loved by his family. And how much he was thrilled at being voted the number one drummer, and how that Karen Carpenter thing really bothered him.

All the best to Deborah in her career. I bet that Bonzo would be very proud of her.

"You've got to understand the height that John has now come to. He was so very revered."Strangely enough, you know, when he was alive he never really knew it. He wasn't regarded as the greatest drummer when he was alive - not for a long time and then all of a sudden, people realised. It was about a year before he died, he got a Number One drummer accolade and he was so thrilled".

"Before that people like Karen Carpenter were beating him, what was that about? "He was so thrilled. Of course we all knew that he was destined for absolute greatness".

Although John Bonham consistently finished among the top three drummers in various rock music magazine reader's polls throughout the 70s, his bandmates consistently finished first.

The following is not all inclusive but illustrates the point Deborah Bonham made: In Oct '70 he finished third (Music Life, Japan), Oct '71 fourth (Music Life, Japan), Dec '75 second (Popular 1, Spain), Jan '76 third (Circus, USA) Feb '76 second (NME, UK), '77 third (Circus, USA), Dec '79 second (Melody Maker, UK), Mar '80 first (Creem), Feb'81 first (Circus).

Lot's of stuff in there I didn't know about Bonzo. Is it not funny and ironic how we never really understand how good some thing's are until they are gone? B)

Joe Perry claims he's talked to Jimmy Page about a future collaboration:

So far as I know Jimmy and Joe haven't spoken since since the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony back in April 2009, but Joe saw Slash and Tommy Lee in October. Perhaps it's worth noting Guns n Roses are eligible for induction in 2010.

Slash, Joe Perry, Jason Bonham, Tommy Lee teaming for Vegas event

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash will help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mirage Hotel & Casino on October 2nd 2009 in Las Vegas with a special show billed as "Slash and Friends." The list of performers includes Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, Rob Zombie, Led Zeppelin drummer Jason Bonham, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, Courtney Love, Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen and others

SLASH WORRIED ABOUT HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

Rocker SLASH fears GUNS 'N ROSES' potential induction into the Rock + Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 could be a debacle if the bandmates don't put aside their differences by then. The November Rain hitmakers will become eligible for induction in 2010 - but guitarist former Slash fears a Van Halen-type mess. The rocker and former Guns 'N Roses stars Duff MCKagan and Matt Sorum joined forces with Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar to pay tribute to Van Halen last year (07) when the band themselves failed to show. Eddie Van Halen was in rehab and frontman David Lee Roth refused to perform with his successor, Hagar. And now Slash fears his old band's big night in two years time could become be another classic anti-climax. He tells Billboard.com, "I never even thought about it until we had to do that. Somebody asked me, 'Do you think you guys will be able to show up for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (induction ceremony) in five years?' "I was like, 'Oh, I guess we're eligible.' It never dawned on me before then. If this comes up, I'd hope we'd be mature enough to get up and do that, but I have no idea." Slash, MCKagan and Sorum currently perform together in Velvet Revolver while Guns 'N Roses frontman Axl Rose is famously estranged from his former bandmates.

Well, as far as credible sources are concerned, I'd definitely choose the great self-proclaimed Jimmy Page confidant and expert Steve A. Jones over the less informed and often blowhardy Joe Perry.

I mean, if ANYONE knows when and to what extent Joe and Jimmy have spoken about working together, it's definitely our Steve, right?

Love,

Billy

Show me where I've made such claims? What I did say is so far as I know it's quite possible the conversation Joe refers to took place back in April. Over the past 15 some odd years if Joe makes contact with Jimmy I know.

How I know is none of your concern.

Billy, anyone besides me and nearly everyone on FBO ever tell you you're really fucking annoying? Thought so.

Well if Jimmy wants to join Joe on stage when he is supporting Bad Company next April in Manchester and then joins Bad Co on stage too I don't think I would mind that at all.

:D

Thanks Meg

No probs. Just saw a recent report on Steve Sauer's website. Kevin Shirley has allegedly dropped "hints" something is going on with Joe Perry, Jimmy Page et al on a possible "supergroup" recording project for a January release. See:

Interesting, I understood Kevin Shirley's words differently.

I think when he said "I've recorded Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, Eric Clapton..." he was talking about recording them in the past, not recently.
