ledzep4life
As of late ive been spending most of my time on the guitar trying to modify how i play my zep songs to match those in TSRTS movie, i just bought the new one and im pretty damn happy with it. picked it up for $11.50 aus dollars so anyway, been doing pretty good so far but hit some problems here and there. At the moment the one thing i really wanna get and probly should be able to figure out by myself but cant is Over the Hills and Far Away. Theres the standard riff section and then jimmy adds a modified ascending section. It's really annoying me but i cant seem to get it right. Any ideas? theres also a cool dazed and confused section too but depending on the response to this i might ask for help on that section. oh and i know this is a long shot but does anyone have No Quarter solo on tab? Evster2012
Where more specifically in the song does this appear? Here's a link to my band doing the song a few years ago: Can you give me the time where the ascention occurs? I'll be happy to help however I can. Tab on No Quarter? Sorry, no. Learned it by ear over a long period of time.
Evster2012
Upon review, I guess you're talking about the little slide up lick he adds during the quiet part. That goes like this: Sorry I'm so tab stupid! *edit to add* wow! Crap that didn't post like I wrote it! Strum 5th fret d and g string with 3rd fret on b string. Add 5th fret on b string and remove as accent. Slide up to 7th fret d and g, with 5th fret b string. Hope that helps. I too am obsessed with TSRTS. Ask me anything, and I'll do my best. Roll up the D string while picking the open strings (G, B and E). 2nd fret to 4th, 5th, 7th to a suspended C chord. 2nd fret D string; open G string; 1st fret B string; alternating on the high E string open, 2nd fret, 3rd, 2nd, pull-off and repeat. the queen without a king
Here's a link to my band doing the song a few years ago: Evster, your playing is badass !! Seriously, I watch so many people cover Zep on Youtube and though I admire their effort some are just painful to hear. Oh, the singer is awesome too in your clip....great powerful voice. Agreed, I've heard so many butcherings of Zeppelin songs on youtube. Have you heard the Virtual Zeppelin covers though? That guitar player is sick. Evster2012
There's a cut in the solo that was in the original film, which differed from the soundtrack album. Conversely, the original soundtrack cut out the wah part where Jonesy comes home after the raiding bit. Because they couldn't alter the visuals in the film when re-doing it, due to copyright restrictions, they couldn't stick the complete solo in the remaster. But overall, it's good! Oh, and thanks for the kind words folks!
Evster2012
Have you heard the Virtual Zeppelin covers though? That guitar player is sick. Yeah, that's some crazy stuff! My understanding is that they all live in different parts of the world, and in fact have never met in person or played together. Each guy records his part while playing to the album, and sends it to the next via internet, who adds his part. Welcome to 21st century jamming! That singer of theirs though. Incredible. I actually have a hard time distinguishing him from Robert Plant himself. His phrasing is a little bit different from Plant's on OTHAFA but for Ten Years Gone, its the exact same.

I must admit I remain a bit skeptical. Just a bit. I don't mean to diss the band, they're amazing. Obviously extremely talented musicians. It just seems to my ear that here and there the original Zeppelin tracks fade in a bit. There's tones and nuances that can't be replicated. It might just be my ears, but I sense some blending at times. I could be totally wrong, and I'm not making an accusation. I think these guys are fantastic. It's just that there's times. I'd really like to see them live.
