Sometimes, believe it or not, other people don't play Zeppelin material well. Recognizing when this is the case is called discrimination, not being a Debby Downer, and it's usually for a very good reason. Such as, the guy can't play. Other people play their material very well.

The fact that other people don't hold the same opinion as you doesn't make their opinion necessarily dumb. Sorry.

I get it, but I'm not saying that. I am just saying people are going to bitch one way or another.

And I'm saying they're not, necessarily, and if they do it could very well be for a good reason.

For instance, take Rodrigo y Gabriela's version of Stairway. I think it's fabulous! I love it desperately!

See--no bitching about somebody doing Zeppelin material. Then again, other people might not like it, but they might have a very good reason for that.

You're just assuming that people are going to bitch, and that there's never a valid reason for it. I'm disagreeing, that's all. :)

And Leona is definitely not so popular in China, I really doubt how many people of my country have heard her before.

I'd say Leona is ok but I cringe everytime thinking she trying to pull off WLL.

Its not about her popularity in China. This is a symbolic handing over of the games to Britain, and they have chosen things that represent Brirtain for the ceremony- a double decker London bus, David Beckham and the nation's football obsession, Jimmy Page - the O2 show making world news last year - and Leona, one of the most successful British artists of the moment. That's why her being refered to on this forum as an "American Idol singer" was so ridiculous.

Why cringe before you've heard her? Who knows what she'll be like on the song. Just because we haven't heard her sing rock doesn't mean she won't be amazing on it.

Sorry it's just a instinctive reaction.

I also said Leona is ok, it's just a bit difficult for me to image her singing WLL, and I think someone else here got the same reaction as well.

And I wish her and Jimmy doing well with my whole heart. It will be a beautiful ending for Beijing and beginning for London.

Kewl B) if my calculations are right the ceremonies will begin at 7:00am my time cdt.

I wonder if it will be tape delay?

No, that doesn't seem right. 7:00 east coast 6:00 central, I would think Seattle would be 5ish?

That it is! My daughter just saw the announcement/ad on the Chinese satellite channel and she said it was cute the way they pronounced Jimmy's name -- Jimmy Hagee :D And my husband just informed me that they will show it during the day tomorrow so I guess I'll watch the Chinese station instead of NBC even though I won't be able to understand a word.

Here in the US, I think the NBC commercials are touting that Michael Phelps will be "part" of the closing ceremonies "by way of satellite." I wonder if Phelps is a Zep fan?

Man! That was mind blowing! The fucking huge stadium, 90,000 persons. Coming out of the 2-deck bus, grooving... and then: Bang! The Big Riff! It wasn't Led Zeppelin, of course, but just to see Pagey playing with this very cute singer, it was simply ecstatic.

I can't stop thinking about How badass Jimmy is with is long grey hair! The Wizard of Rock.

And the billion and a half of people watching...

I'd like to know how he felt...
