A job well done!

Leona Lewis had big shoes to fill and I think she did great.

As for Jimmy, what can one say about Jimmy that hasn't already been said. The man is awesome. He looked great and looked like he was having a grand time. I have to make a confession though... I'm not really liking the ponytail

The sound was pretty brutal but that's to be expected in a venue of that size....did they really lip sync/mock play? Why would they not play live?

Obviously it's hard to look totally cool miming...but Leona sounded amazing, I loved the vocal arrangement. Jimmy looked like he was really enjoying himself. It was great!

I thought in the opening shots Leona looked like a drag artist. Also I didn't realise she was that tall- she must be at least 12 feet.

At least Jimmy looked well turned out and smiling!

liked it you could totally tell he wasnt playing it live though

I am sure Jimmy would have been awesome if he didnt have to pretend to play guitar.

Buzzkill. <_<

Sorry but that just takes the fire out for me, cheapens it totally, ceremony and symbolism notwithstanding.

Edit to add: I just come back to this thread and looking at my post as a whole, with the Jason sig pic, he looks like he's looking up and cheering Jimmy and Leona on

Hey-Up,

If Jason is looking Up, its not to cheer, its to see if she's gone Commando!!

Hang-man...

yeh we had an annoying commentary while he first appeared.....blah blah blah, oh thats jimmy page once with the yardbirds ending his career with a band called led zeppelin. etc..etc..

But i enjoyed it, the sound was abit strange ... echoey and sorta muffled guitar with overpowering vocals.

Solo sounded great tho.

You could see he was enjoying himself aswell..... B)

Edit: repeated myself lol

It was great to see Jimmy up there, but frankly I don't really want to see Leona Lewis singing 'Whole Lotta Love', she didn't do anything for me. I thought the sound was a bit terrible, very bassy, no top end, and I thought Jimmy was probably just miming, it didn't look like he was actually playing it, but then Placido Domingo looked like he was miming during his song too

I was a bit dissapointed to be honest. It was nice to see Jimmy out there in the spotlight but you could barely hear him. All the raunch and power of the original seemed lost in this version, probably because of a lack of Jonesy and a Bonham behind the drum kit. Shame it was mimed too.

I enjoyed her vocals very much! Very bluesy and sexy I thought....

I posted a still from the youtube video of the guitar cord from Jimmys guitar. Some of it, the solo perhaps, very well may have been live.

Thought it was fabulous, even watching it on the BBC news site. What a brilliant combination. They should record it properly and release it as a single.

Maybe the future of Zep is with a female vocalist (surprised nobody has suggested it before now)? Now THAT would upset a few preconceptions and a whole panoply of apple carts. He he he.

Indi.
