for us, this storm is nothing like katrina. we've lost power only intermittently, (katrina we lost it during landfall and didn't regain it for 3 weeks) and the worst wind has been some tornadoes sprouting up. the hard rock casino on the beach has had some surge damage, and the surge has crossed hiway 90 in several places, but so far so good.

this is not the storm of the century.

looks like some of the levees in new orleans have been overlapping but no breaches yet. still a few more hours packed in this one as it is advancing slow.

i hope dlzdoc is alright, someone brought his location to my attention and he's gotta be careful.

i'd trade some of this for some 'midnight sun' about right now, though....

Thank God it's at least not as bad as Katrina. Although the wind's picking up, I think we'll miss the wprst of it where I am. Just hope the levees hold in New Orleans, though . . . and sending out good vibes to dzldoc, and everyone else.

Also good luck to those in the path of Hanna later in the week.

Thanks for the reports beatbo & dzldoc....it sounds very frightening. You guys must be thinking "no, not again" Mother Nature sure can be one mean wench at times, eh. My prayers are with all.

I just saw the reports on Hurricane Gustav on TV. I hear that the Hurricane is weakening to a catagory 1 and not as bad as everyone thought. THANK GOD! ROCK ON!
