MHD
Hahaha what a coincidence! I had some today on some Ryvitas. First time for ages. I don't love it or hate it...I'm an exception and in the middle. I eat it as it's nil fat and low calories, not because it's delish.

MadScreamingGallery
I don't love or hate the taste but I have a strange sentimental affection for Marmite. When we lived in southern Africa and our children were in a creche they were served Marmite and butter on bread. When we were on the road down there (traveling long distances in remote areas), I always carried a jar of Marmite would serve it on crackers to our children, followed by Smarties for dessert. If I happen to be in a shop that sells Marmite, for nostagia's sake, I will buy a jar. Even without tasting it, the smell and the texture of Marmite evokes those days. Starbucks do/did a lovely panini breakfast one. I remember having an operation when I was five and being completely insistant that I have marmite on toast once I was able to eat again. longdistancewinner
I have a jar of it and don't know what to do with it. Any suggestions/recipes? If you just wanna try it out just butter some toast and spead it on. You don't have to use butter, but it spreads better with it. It's for the acquired taste, so if you spread a thin amount on, you may like it better. It can be very salty otherwise. Or you could have a cheese sandwich (toasted or not) and spread some marmite on that. It works well with crackers and savoury biscuits. Some people disolve it in water to make a drink or soup. longdistancewinner
I'll try it in a cup of hot water. Thanks! No problem. I'd suggest using a small spooning of it first. Nothing more than a teaspoon, otherwise it gets too much.
Aquamarine
Love the stuff--stagger back with jars of it whenever I visit the UK. Marmite soldiers--mmmm! However I think you probably have to be raised on it not to hate it.

Angel With A Broken Wing
Erm....sure, AWABW. I'll be your mommy. I think. Hi Mad~~ You know that saying "it's never too late to have a happy childhood". I was thinking how cool it would be to have a mom who gave me Smarties for dessert. A sister or friend would fit the bill too. My little sis and I used to have tea parties with our dolls & stuffed animals (plus one bro who would crash the party when he found out candy was involved). We would take a Smartie and put one of those chocolate Dots on top and imagine we were high society. Anyone want to have a tea party??
